  • Patent number: 9441740
Abstract: A cartridge seated plug valve includes a hollow body with an inlet, an outlet, and a cylindrical valve chamber. A C-shaped rotor with an elastomeric coating is rotatably held in the valve chamber by a valve cover and a base. A valve facing with an elastomeric gasket is held adjacent to the inlet, with a central aperture of the valve facing aligned with the inlet, and the elastomeric gasket held in compression about an inlet seal surface at a perimeter of the inlet, by facing channels in the cover and base. In a closed position, the rotor is oriented with the elastomeric coating of the plug segment sealing the central aperture. The valve is opened by rotating the main stem, changing an orientation of the rotary plug, and moving the plug segment away from the inlet.

  • Patent number: 9360122
Abstract: An expanding disk gate valve assembly comprises two gate disks and an elastomeric disk. A first flange on a first gate disk mates to a second flange on a second gate disk forming an internal volume surrounding the elastomeric disk. An elastomeric sheath covers the mated disks with the first gate disk being radially offset from, and radially movable relative to, the second gate disk. A width of the gate disk assembly is less than a width between two valve seats when the gate disk assembly is in an open position. In a closed position, the first flange moves radially toward the second flange, compressing elastomeric disk, and causes the elastomeric disk to expand axially against the two gate disks, forcing them apart, and increasing the gate disk assembly width so that the gate disk assembly actively seals against the valve seats.

  • Patent number: 9360133
Abstract: A cushioned check valve includes a flow channel with an inlet, a check valve, and an outlet. Bypass channels connect the outlet, a cylinder containing a piston, and the inlet. The piston is biased toward a first end of the cylinder by a diaphragm and a hermetically sealed gas volume containing a compressible gas, blocking the bypass channels. When the fluid pressure in the outlet exceeds a nominal operating range, the piston moves toward a second end of the cylinder until the fluid pressure acting on the piston is equalized by the piston bias, and fluid flows through the bypass channel. Once the fluid pressure and piston bias are equalized, the piston returns to a position blocking the bypass channels.

  • Patent number: 9285037
Abstract: A mud valve having a flange frame and yoke that are permanently connected to form a single unit without the aid of removable fasteners is described. Installation of the drain plug is facilitated by an arrangement of guide tabs on either side of the drain plug that are of different distances from the surface of the drain plug. This staggered arrangement allows the drain plug to be installed through a tilting and rotating of the drain plug that brings the tabs into alignment with guide rails on the yoke without necessitating the separation of the yoke from the flange frame. Similarly, the construction described allows the drain plug to be removed for repair or replacement in the field without disassembling the yoke and flange frame.

  • Patent number: 9260841
Abstract: A drain valve slide and drain valve facing seal an elbow drain hole in a dry barrel fire hydrant when the main valve is closed. A first wedge on the main valve assembly engages the elbow when the main valve is opened and biases the drain valve slide and drain valve facing toward the elbow drain hole, creating a positive seal.

  • Patent number: 9260840
Abstract: A hydrant main valve includes a main seal elastically deformable between a first state and a second state, such that a main valve assembly may be inserted into a main valve elbow without removable valve seats. A main valve assembly rotation lock engages a rotation block inside the elbow preventing rotation of the main valve assembly. A rotating operating stem extension moves a main valve bottom plate relative to a drain valve body, causing main valve seal elastic deformation.

  • Patent number: 8746655
Abstract: An actuator for a butterfly valve, having a gearbox, an actuator stem and a handle. The actuator stem is formed as a single piece, comprising a position indicator, seal disc, worm gear, and stem shaft with splines for fitting into the valve. The handle is also formed as a single piece, comprising the wheel or knob, shaft, and worm for operating the worm gear. By forming the gearbox as a single piece as well, the entire actuator can be made as three major pieces. Optionally, the gearbox can be formed with cylindrical fittings which press-fit over pins on the valve, replacing the conventional mounting bracket.
