  • Patent number: 7040847
Abstract: The invention is a device for securing a wheelchair to a vehicle. The invention incorporates a pair of belts disposed near a wheelchair station in a vehicle, the belts being remotely operable between tension and release positions. When not in use, the belts are stowed in compartments beside and underneath the floor of the vehicle to eliminate potential obstacles. The rear of the wheelchair is secured to the vehicle using remotely lockable anchor elements which are also retractable when the wheelchair station is not in use.

  • Patent number: 6328511
Abstract: An anchor for securing an end of a vehicle tie-down member to a wire grid floor of a vehicle transporter distributes the tension load from the tiedown member over a plurality of the wires making up the grid. The anchor has a base plate with six integrally formed grid engagement members arranged in three pairs. A fitting is disposed on the upper surface of the base plate for connection with the end of the tie-down member and is rotatable about a vertical axis with respect to the base place. The anchor is placed on the top of the wire grid floor such that the grid engagement members pass through six adjacent openings in the grid and the distal ends of the members project generally in the direction in which the tie-down member is to extend when attached to the vehicle, and the tie-down member is tightened to urge the grid engagement members tightly into engagement with the wires of the grid.

  • Patent number: 6149359
Abstract: A wheelchair anchor for use in a vehicle is movable between a retracted position in which it takes up a relatively small amount of floor space within the vehicle and an extended position in which it provides a plurality of anchor points to which one or more wheelchairs may be secured. An elongated track plate is secured to the floor of the vehicle so that it extends transversely to the direction of vehicle motion, and a beam assembly made up of three beams telescopingly engaged with one another is slidable along the track plate between a retracted position adjacent a first end of the track plate and an extended position wherein the beam is slid toward the opposite, second and the track plate. The distal end of the beam assembly is securable to the track plate adjacent the midportion of the track to maintain the beam assembly in the retracted position adjacent the first end of the track, and is alternatively securable to the track adjacent the second end to maintain the beam assembly in the extended position.

  • Patent number: 6099220
Abstract: A cargo locking device for restraining wheeled carts in freight trailers, trucks or railway cars from rolling. An elongated frame is slidably positionable within elongated spaced tracks. An abutment plate is pivotally mounted on the frame between storage and operative positions, and a prop lock bar pivoted to the frame selectively maintains the abutment plate in its operative position to prevent cart movement. The abutment plate and lock bar are pivotal to the non-obtrusive storage position.

  • Patent number: 6039522
Abstract: An extensible shoring bar for bracing vehicle loads wherein telescoping tubular elements are spring biased toward an extended position for wedging the bar between the sides of a van or truck. An actuator interposed between the tubular elements includes a rotatable locking detent which automatically rotates between locking and release positions upon full retraction of the elements permitting the shoring bar to be locked in a retracted position for handling and positioning purposes, and by fully retracting the elements, the detent is automatically released permitting the elements to be expanded under the influence of a compression spring. The automatic locking and unlocking action of the actuator occurs upon sequential retractions of the tubular elements.

  • Patent number: 5979876
Abstract: In a dunnage jack bar assembly of the longitudinal ratchet type wherein the length of the jack bar assembly is adjusted by a carriage slidably mounted upon the jack bar having locking and power pawls operated by an oscillating operating lever wherein the pawls engage the teeth of the jack bar to translate the carriage thereon. A quick release lever mounted upon the operating lever selectively lifts the locking pawl from the jack bar teeth to permit a rapid translation of the carriage on the jack bar in either direction.

  • Patent number: 5730500
Abstract: A web adjuster particularly suitable with occupant restraint systems wherein a shoulder belt, or the like, utilizes an adjustable web for confinement purposes. An upper reversing ring slidably receives an adjustment web having a lower manually adjustable handle for adjusting the web, and the web passes through the ring and through a cam adjustable buckle having an end affixed to the reversing ring. A load ring is attached to the buckle and tilting of the buckle between release and lock positions permits the position of the load ring to be adjusted as the adjustment web is pulled through the reversing ring.

  • Patent number: 4951365
Abstract: The invention pertains to an improved overcenter buckle for tensioning straps used for securing cargo during transport wherein the buckle includes a handle pivotally mounted upon a U-shaped body, and the tension strap is threaded through the handle wherein pivoting thereof between open and closed positions tensions the strap. The improved construction comprises a lock plate slidably mounted on the body displaceable between handle lock and release positions and the lock plate is sufficient spaced from the handle to allow handle clearance during release.
