Patent number: 8748748Abstract: Systems and methods for securing and electrically grounding objects or payloads are provided herein. Clamp assemblies and the manufacture of clamp assemblies in accordance with the present technology can provide reliable and redundant electrical grounding and secure cushioned fastening. In one embodiment, an electrically grounding cushioned clamp assembly includes an elastomer cushion with a longitudinal opening extending therethrough. The clamp assembly can include an engaging surface configured to engage a payload and an electrically conductive comb strip disposed at least partially in the longitudinal opening. Portions of the comb strip can be exposed adjacent to the engaging surface to contact the payload and provide a plurality of electrical grounding paths.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 2012Date of Patent: June 10, 2014Assignee: Kirkhill-TA Co.Inventor: Jay S. Publication number: 20090050735Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to systems and methods related to electromagnetic energy dissipation, including the dissipation of static electricity. One aspect of the invention is directed toward an electromagnetic dissipation system that includes a conductive material, a protective element, and a base element. The conductive material is coupled between a portion of the outer surface of the protective element and a portion of the outer surface of the base element to form a modular dissipation system. Other aspects of the invention are directed toward a vehicle system that includes a receiving surface, a conductive element, and a protective element. The conductive element is (a) coupled between a portion of the receiving surface of the vehicle and a portion of the outer surface of the protective element, and/or (b) embedded in the portion of the receiving surface.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 24, 2007Publication date: February 26, 2009Applicant: Kirkhill-TA Co.Inventor: Thomas J. Patent number: 6768058Abstract: The present invention provides a self-sealing grommet assembly. In one aspect of the invention, a grommet assembly is provided for use with an elongated member, such as a wire bundle, cable, or tube, that may have varying outer diameters. The grommet assembly has a flexible body portion with a radially inward-facing first sealing surface defining a central aperture sized to receive the elongated member. The flexible body portion has a radially outward-facing second sealing surface facing away from the first sealing surface. The body portion has an annular cavity formed therein substantially concentric with the central aperture and positioned between the first and second sealing surfaces. A biasing member is contained in the annular cavity and is configured to exert a radially inward sealing force to press the body portion into sealable engagement with the elongated member.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2002Date of Patent: July 27, 2004Assignee: Kirkhill-TA Co.Inventor: Hari S.
