    Abstract: There is provided a self-propelled conveyor for use in mining operations having an endless revolving conveyor strand driven in its longitudinal direction by intermediate drives and guided on a conveyor frame which consists of segments multi-directionally pivotally connected to one another along the central longitudinal axis of the conveyor. The conveyor frame has downwardly extendible support elements which, for the conveying operation, lift the conveyor strand reversing in the lower stringer from the ground when the support elements are extended. For the transporting operation, the support elements are retracted so as to permit the strand to lie on the ground. Between the segments of the conveyor frame disposed in the front region of the conveyor there are steering cylinders by means of which the angle between these segments can be adjusted so as to direct the longitudinal direction of the conveyor.

    Abstract: A double central chain belt assembly for a chain scraper conveyor has scraper members arranged at spacings relative to each other. Each scraper member comprises a central portion and two outside portions of the same configuration. Each adjacent pair of scraper members are connected together by a pair of chain portions which are arranged at respective sides of the center line of the assembly. Each end of each chain portion terminates in an end link which serves as a connecting link. The central portion and the outside portions of each scraper member are releasably connected together. Each central portion has engagement surfaces disposed in opposite relationship in the longitudinal direction of the assembly for the engagement of the teeth of a pin gear. On its outside at both sides, each central portion has flanks with oppositely disposed openings for receiving the end links of the chain portions therein. Each flank is arranged to receive, and to be secured, an outside portion.

    Abstract: Methods are provided for translating a face support comprising a plurality of support units arranged side-by-side at an initial position. In the first embodiment, a first pair of alternately positioned support units are moved a predetermined distance from the initial position. Next, a second pair of alternately positioned support units are moved the predetermined distance. One of the support units of the second pair is positioned between the first pair. These moving steps are repeated until the entire plurality of support units is moved the desired distance. In the second embodiment, the first moving step is duplicated. Then, a single support unit located between the first pair is moved the predetermined distance. These two moving steps are repeated until all of the support units are moved.

    Abstract: A method and device is provided for the moving of a shield-type support trestle 1 having stamps 4, 5 arranged between a roof pressure cap 3 and a lying skid 2, a pushing ram 6 is in the lying skid 2, and control valves 11, 12, 13, 14 for controlling the desired functions of the shield-type support trestle 1. The stamps 4, 5 have an inlet valve 22 and a discharge valve 4. A pressure line 40 is provided between control valve 13 and the pushing ram 6. A valve 51 is provided which is controlled by the pressure in the pressure line 40 and by which interconnects stamp pressure chambers. A manometric switch 48 is arranged on the pressure line 40 and activates an electronic control device 42. In lines 53, 55, and 29 between the stamp pressure chambers and the return line 18, an unlockable reflux valve 54 is provided which is actuated through the electronic control device 42 and the discharge valve 24.

    Abstract: A transfer station which includes an elongated main frame, a conveyor movably mounted in the elongated main frame; a feeder box comprising opposite feed devices connected to opposite sides of the elongated main frame, each feeder device including a box compartment which can be tilted to discharge debris deposited therein onto the moving conveyor; a crusher mechanism for crushing debris carried thereto by the moving conveyor; a discharge chute for discharging the crushed debris into a hauling device; and lifting devices attached to the elongated main frame to lower it onto the ground and place the transfer station in a lowered, operational mode, or raise it above the ground and place the transfer station in an elevated transport mode. Once the transfer station is in its elevated, transport mode a caterpillar tractor can be positioned under the elongated main frame to transport the transfer station to another processing location.

    Abstract: A curve-negotiating conveyor particularly for use in underground mining operations wherein the conveyor can be designed to any desired length since it compensates for the extension of the conveyor track occurring over the extended length of the conveyor without the positively operating driving devices becoming disengaged. The conveyor has a track forcibly guided on an undercarriage, the links of the track being flexibly joined to one another and the track resists tension and compression. The undercarriage is comprised of undercarriage segments being flexibly joined to each other and having limited lengthwise displacement. Some of the individual segments of the undercarriage are connected with driver devices having sprocket wheels that positively engage the conveyor track.

    Abstract: A foot element of an adjustable roof support mechanism includes side walls that have aligned guide grooves in their facing surfaces and a spherical bearing surface in a floor portion therebetween. The guide grooves include inclined entry portions and enlarged terminal portions. A cooperable, extendable strut element includes a tubular body having a spherical lower end and two cams extending away from opposite sides near its lower end. The cams are shaped so as to fit within the guide grooves of the foot element. When attaching the strut element to the foot element the cams thereof are moved along the entry portions of the aligned guide grooves and into the terminal portions thereof. Thereafter, the strut is rotated into a use position. When in its use position, the cams cannot be removed from the terminal portions of the guide grooves, thus preventing unintentional separation of the strut element and the foot element.
