    Abstract: A straightening machine (1) and a method for straightening a metal strip or a flat metal part (16) by the straightening machine, having upper straightening rollers (3) in an upper roller mill (2) and lower straightening rollers (6) in a lower roller mill (5). The upper and lower straightening rollers form upper and lower roller mill planes with a straightening gap therebetween and act on the metal strip to be straightened. In a working position, the upper roller mill plane forms an operating angle to the lower roller mill plane. The straightening gap (11) is changed by adjusting the upper roller mill plane relative to the lower roller mill plane. Before or at the start of a straightening process, the upper and/or lower roller mill is put in a starting position with a widened straightening nip, at least until a front end of the material strip has entered the inlet of the working region and for the rest of the straightening process, the upper and/or lower roller mill is put in the working position.

    Abstract: A straightening machine for straightening a metal strip or planar metal parts is provided, having a number of upper straightening rollers 15 which are each mounted at one first and one second bearing location 24, 25 in an upper roller mill 12, and a number of lower straightening rollers 16 are each mounted at one first and one second bearing location 24, 25 in a lower roller mill 14. The upper and lower straightening rollers 15, 16 are disposed such that they form a straightening gap 17 between an inlet 6 and an outlet 7 of the straightening machine 1 to act from above and from below on the metal strip or metal part 10 to be straightened and to guide the latter through the straightening machine 1. The straightening rollers are provided with coupling elements 5, disposed on an end side, for coupling drive shafts of a drive device 2, 3, 4, and are removable from the respective roller mill 12, 14.

Stay bolts connect the upper and lower roll frame at a preselectable spacing, the stay bolts being assigned adjusting apparatuses for changing an effective length of the stay bolts, which effective length defines the preselectable spacing, and for compensating for changes in the effective length during operation. The adjusting apparatuses include a mechanically movable sliding wedge which changes the effective length of the stay bolts.

The upper straightening rollers and the lower straightening rollers are arranged in upper and lower interchangeable cartridges, respectively, together with the pertaining coupling elements, with the cartridges being removable from the straightening machine. The straightening machine provides that at least one of the upper and lower interchangeable cartridges is configured to be separable in such a manner that the relevant straightening rollers (6.1, 6.2, . . . ) can be exchanged optionally together with at least the pertaining coupling elements (5.1?, 5.2?, . . . ; 6.1?, 6.2? . . . ) by removing the entire upper and/or lower interchangeable cartridge or without the pertaining coupling elements by removing only part of the relevant interchangeable cartridge.
