  • Publication number: 20220312694
Abstract: A power control system for a forestry machine may include an engine control module and a pump control module. The engine control module may be configured to control an engine speed of an engine of the forestry machine. The engine speed may be limited in accordance with a maximum engine speed. The pump control module may determine whether a first function of the forestry machine is activated, determine whether a sensed pressure of a pump associated with the first function is greater than or equal to a high pressure setpoint, and output a control signal indicating a request for a power increase in response to determining that the first function is activated and the sensed pressure is greater than or equal to the high pressure setpoint. The engine control module may increase the maximum engine speed in response to the request for the power increase from the pump control module.

  • Patent number: 11034572
Abstract: A vehicle or machine may include a consumable that requires refilling, such as fuel. Refilling the consumable may occur at a regular interval and the amounts may be recorded. Based on the past intervals and amounts, there may be modifications to future amounts. The weight of the consumable on a vehicle may decrease efficiency. Accordingly, the amount of consumable should be kept to a minimum to avoid carrying excess weight. Reducing an amount of the consumable upon replenishment can improve efficiency of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9708957
Abstract: The heat provided to a vehicle based SCR system may be managed by purposely increasing the load placed on the vehicle's engine such that the engine's exhaust gas temperature remains above a predetermined level. The energy generated by the extra load placed on the engine may be dissipated through an energy absorption device. The need for extra engine load may be anticipated to ensure adequate heat is provided to the SCR throughout various operating conditions.

  • Patent number: 7674387
Abstract: An oil filtration system includes three separate tanks. A first of these tanks is to receive oil from a wheel motor of the mining or construction vehicle. A second of these tanks is to receive the oil from the first tank after the oil in the first tank has been sufficiently heated so as to remove moisture therefrom. And, a third of these tanks is to receive the oil from the second tank after the oil has been sufficiently filtered so as to remove particles and debris therefrom. The third tank can hold the filtered oil therein until it is ready to be supplied back to the wheel motor.

  • Patent number: 7439695
Abstract: A mechanical braking system is provided for a vehicle having an electric propulsion system which is utilized for retard speed regulation. While the retard speed regulation is normally performed via electric braking, in some conditions the electric braking is not able to maintain a desired speed for the vehicle. In this condition, upon receipt of a signal from the electric propulsion system, the mechanical braking system is automatically activated so as to maintain the vehicle at the desired speed.

  • Patent number: 7427914
Abstract: In a system for alerting an operator of a vehicle to a highest priority fault condition, the operating conditions of the vehicle are obtained and compared to predetermined values in order to identify the fault conditions of the vehicle. Each of the fault conditions of the vehicle has a corresponding operator action associated therewith which identifies the actions that must be performed by the operator in order to manage the fault condition. By prioritizing the fault conditions on the basis of the operator actions that are necessary to manage the faults, the system is able to output to the operator only the operator action associated with the highest priority fault condition, without any compromise in safety or additional risk of damage to the vehicle, while providing the ability for the operator of the vehicle to manage all of the active fault conditions by performing only the operator action associated with the highest priority fault condition.
