  • Patent number: 4802555
Abstract: Improved apparatus for supplying lubricating oil to the chain of a chain saw powered by an internal combustion engine. A lubricating oil tank is pressurized by communication with the crankcase of the engine, and the pressure forces oil from the oil tank to lubricate the saw chain. An air control valve is disposed in the air passage between the crankcase and the lubricating oil tank, and this valve is selectively operable to adjust the pressurization of the oil tank. The control valve is manually adjustable to adjust the pressurization of the lubricating oil tank, so as to accommodate changes in lubrication caused by factors such as changes in temperature, lubricating oil viscocity, or the like.

  • Patent number: 4798182
Abstract: A portable engine has a fan cover fixed to a front surface of a crankcase to cover a fan and to guide upward a blown stream of air generated by the fan, and a cylinder cover disposed behind and in series with the fan cover to cover an engine cylinder and to guide the blown stream toward the engine cylinder. The portable engine has a partition plate formed integrally with said crankcase to cover a step formed between the fan cover and the cylinder cover, and an ignition coil is fixed to the partition plate. According to this arrangement, heat of the engine cylinder will not be directly transmitted to the ignition coil to cause deterioration of the function of the ignition coil. The engine cylinder has positioning pieces which are engaged with positioning holes formed on the crankcase to allow easy assembling and a correct positioning of the engine cylinder and the crankcase.

  • Patent number: 4759128
Abstract: A transmission device adopted for a working tool such as a weed cutter having an engine, a rotary blade, and a gear case for supporting the rotary blade. The transmission device comprises an operation pipe for connecting the engine with the gear case, a transmission shaft disposed inside the operation pipe to transmit the torque of the engine to the rotary blade, and a bearing pipe interposed between the operation pipe and the transmission shaft. The inner surface of the bearing pipe contacts with the outer surface of the transmission shaft to support the transmission shaft rotatably. A plurality of grooves are formed circumferentially on the inner surface of the bearing pipe with predetermined intervals to reduce the contacting area thereof with respect to the transmission shaft. The transmission device further comprises a vibration isolator which is fixed to an end of the operation pipe and removably engaged with a clutch housing of the engine.
