Abstract: The invention relates to the generating of images by means of a two-dimensional field of image sensors, notably by means of a flat dynamic X-ray detector FDXD. In order to adhere to with the maximum data rate Gmax of an evaluation unit (1) it is necessary to satisfy the relation y.f/b £ Gmax between the width x and the height y of a sub-region of the image sensor read out, the imaging rate f and the binning factor b. In conformity with the method, parameters defining the size, position and/or shape of the sub-region can be preset at will, the other variables of the inequality being adapted, if necessary, in such a manner that the inequality remains satisfied. In the context of the method there is also performed a mosaic calibration during which calibration images of the complete image sensor are composed from calibration images of sub-regions.

Abstract: Hard-open defects between logic gates of, for example, an address decoder and the voltage supply which result in logical and sequential delay behavior render a memory conditionally inoperative. A method and apparatus for testing integrated circuits for these types of faults is proposed, in which two cells of two logically adjacent rows or columns are written with complementary logic data. If a read operation reveals the data in the two cells to be identical, the presence and location of a hard-open defect is demonstrated.

Abstract: The method for recording data comprised in a real time data stream sequentially on multiple recording media reduces the buffer required to temporarily store data from the data stream by starting the change of recording medium when an interruption in the program to be recorded is detected. At least part of the data during the change of recording medium is of less interest to the user and the loss of this data is thus preferred over the loss of data belonging to the program that is to be recorded. By allowing selective loss of data the buffer size is reduced.

Abstract: The invention relates to video transcoding between a first and second video standard, such as H.264 and MPEG-2. A video transcoder (201) comprises an interface (203) that receives a video signal in accordance with a first video encoding standard. The video signal is decoded in a decoder (207). An extraction processor (209) extracts motion estimation data from the first video signal, preferably as part of the decoding process. A motion estimation data processor (211) generates second motion estimation data, compatible with a second video encoding standard having a different set of motion estimation options, from the first motion estimation data. The second motion estimation data is generated by projecting motion estimation block positions between reference pictures, aligning prediction blocks with a block position framework and adjusting the prediction block sizes.

Abstract: Cordless telephones according to the DECT standard are constantly transmitting a so-called dummy barrier at a certain power level, repetition interval and transmit frequency to apply corrections to the synchronisation counters in the portable parts for synchronisation to the fixed part. According to the present invention, once timing of the portable part is synchronised to the fixed part, a wired connection is used for applying these small synchronisation corrections with respect to the synchronisation between the portable part and the fixed part of the DECT telephone system. Advantageously, an emission of electromagnetic energy is thereby reduced significantly.

Abstract: A display device has pixels 41 arranged in rows and columns 42,44 addressed by a grid of first and second addressing conductors 50,52. The addressing conductors 50,52 are not parallel with the pixel rows or pixel columns 42,44. This arrangement decouples the row and columns of pixels from the addressing conductors. This provides freedom in the positioning of the driver circuits, which are positioned at the ends of the first and second conductors, which in turn gives greater design freedom for the shape and position of the display in a product.
