Abstract: The Global Health Information System (GHIS) is an interoperable Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system that allows all players in the healthcare market instantaneous access to pertinent patient medical information from remote locations. Patient data formatted into a Global Chart (GC) is stored within a Centralized Data Repository (CDR) of a Global Health Information System. The Global Chart is constantly updated as well-defined triggers automatically append new pertinent data to it. The Global Chart is available at all times to the patient and accessible to the healthcare institutions and healthcare providers treating the patient. The Global Chart is able to interface with current electronic medical record systems, utilizing recently developed standards governing the secure, confidential transfer of electronic patient data.
