Abstract: A video monitor mounting system for use in conjunction with seat back, head restraint or roof mount applications, includes a mounting tray fixed in a hollowed out socket formed in a seat back, the rear face of a head restraint or within a roof mount overhead console. The mounting tray includes an anchor plate having a pair of apertures each having a keyway passage. A video display assembly includes a video display panel housed in a cabinet which is pivotally connected to a shell casing. A back wall of the shell casing carries a pair of twist fasteners which are registered with the keyway passages in the anchor plate. A coin may be utilized to rotate the twist fasteners to secure the shell casing and the display panel after connecting the wiring to the display panel.

Abstract: A processor implemented video monitor includes a display housing hinged to an overhead console. The display housing is stowed in an open stowage cavity of the console and is maintained in its stowed position by a latch detent pin which projects through an opening in a cavity wall and engages a recess, aperture or slot in a wall of the housing. The detent pin is retracted by a solenoid mounted within the console for releasing the display housing for deployment to a viewing position. A shallow finger well having exposed touch sensor terminals is formed in the console. Upon placement of a finger in the well and against the terminals, a solenoid driving circuit actuates the solenoid to retract the latch and permit the display housing to lower to a deployed position. The solenoid is optionally actuated through the processor, as by response to a remote control signal sensor or a membrane keypad.

Abstract: A video monitor includes a display housing which is carried in a stowage recess of an overhead console. A broad rectangular leaf of a hinge assembly is pivotally mounted at one of its ends to the console and is pivotally mounted at its opposite end to a rear casing of the display housing at the approximate mid-height of the housing. The leaf is configured to lie within a recess formed in the rear casing of the display housing when the housing is stowed, overlying ventilation ports in the rear casing. To deploy the display housing in a viewing position, the leaf is rotated about a console pivot and the display housing is rotated relative to the leaf about a housing pivot.
