    Abstract: By the use of an apparatus for producing a polyarylenesulfide comprising a dehydrator vessel and/or a reactor vessel wherein at least liquid-contacting parts thereof are fabricated of titanium, a clean polyarylenesulfide containing no foreign matter can be obtained by reacting a hydrous alkali metal sulfide with a dihaloaromatic compound in an aprotic polar organic solvent.
