Patents Assigned to Kurt Alten
  • Patent number: 5815871
Abstract: A ramp member for a loading dock has a bridge member with a forward and and rearward end. The rearward end is connected to the loading dock so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis. An extension plate is connected with a first end by a pivot connection to the forward end of the bridge member such that the extension plate is pivotable from a folded position into a working position. In the rest position of the bridge member the extension plate is folded and rests on an abutment for supporting the bridge member. The first end of the extension plate has a projection extending over its entire length. The projection has a cross-sectional shape of a circular ring sector with an inner and an outer radius. The outer surface of the projection is defined by the outer radius and the inner surface is defined by the inner radius. A profiled member with an interior space is connected to the forward end of the bridge member and extends over the entire length of the pivot connection.

  • Patent number: 5640733
Abstract: The loading bridge for ramps has a bridge plate having a forward and a rearward end. It is connected with the rearward end to the ramp so as to be pivotable about a horizontal axis. An extension connected to the forward end of the bridge plate is provided and is extendable from an initial position into an extended position for supporting the bridge plate on a vehicle to be loaded and unloaded and retractable from the extended position into the initial position. At least one support leg with an upper and a lower end for supporting the bridge plate in a rest position is provided. The support leg is pivotably connected with the upper end to the bridge plate such that the lower end swivels upwardly toward the rearward end of the bridge plate when the extension is extended. The support leg has a positioning lever. The extension has a downwardly projecting beam.

An extension is connected to the forward end of the bridge plate so as to be extendable from an initial position into an extended position for supporting the bridge plate on a platform to be loaded and unloaded and retractable from the extended position into the initial position. At least one support leg with an upper and a lower end is provided for supporting the bridge plate in a rest position. The support leg is pivotably connected to the bridge plate such that the lower end swivels upwardly toward the rearward end of the bridge plate when the extension is extended. The support leg has at the upper end an end face for supporting a downwardly extending part of the bridge plate. The support leg has at the upper end a holding member extending upwardly toward the bridge plate for pivotably connecting the upper end to the bridge plate.

  • Patent number: 5148751
Abstract: A bridging mechanism, the bridge plate of which can be pivoted from a vertical rest position behind the tracks into a horizontal operating position in which the free end of the bridge plate rests upon a dock or platform. The pivot connection of the bridge plate is mounted on a vertical support structure of a travel mechanism that is disposed behind the tracks. To achieve a large span length of the bridging mechanism where low ceilings are present, the pivot connection of the bridge plate is mounted such that it can be raised and lowered on the support structure. When the bridge plate is swung up out of the working position and into the approximately vertical rest position, the pivot connection is lowered, and when the bridge plate is swung down from the approximately vertical rest position into the operating position, the pivot connection is lowered.
