Publication number: 20140013798Abstract: In an air-distillation method, purified air is cooled in an exchange line and then sent to a distillation column of a system of columns, and oxygen- and nitrogen-rich fluids are extracted from a column of the system of columns only during the repressurization phase. A purified airflow, constituting between 3% and 20% of the air compressed in the compressor, is used to at least partially pressurize the adsorber completing the regeneration phase thereof, and the airflow compressed in the compressor during the adsorption phase is substantially equal to the airflow compressed in the compressor during the pressurization of the adsorber. A portion of the purified air is sent to a turbine where it is decompressed and then sent into the atmosphere an as to ensure that it is kept at least partially cold during the entire cycle, and the amount of decompressed airflow sent into the air during the pressurization of an adsorber is less than the amount sent into the air during the adsorption phase of the same adsorber.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2012Publication date: January 16, 2014Applicant: L'AIR LIQUIDE, SOCIETE ANONYME POUR L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDEInventor: Patrick Le Bot

Publication number: 20120231611Abstract: Disclosed are GeX2Ln molecules, with X being a halide, L being an adduct other than C4H8O2, and 0.5?n?2. These molecules have lower melting points and/or increased volatility compared to GeCl2-dioxane. Also disclosed is the use of such molecules for deposition of thin films, such as chalcogenide, SiGe, and GeO2 films.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2010Publication date: September 13, 2012Applicant: L'Air Liquide Societe Anonyme pour l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventors: Julien Gatineau, Andreas Zauner, Hana Ishii

Patent number: 6322611Abstract: A synthesis gas obtained by steam reforming is sent to a pressure swing adsorption unit (2) which separates a CO/H2 mixture, as a production gas, from the other constituents. The CO/H2 mixture is sent to a unit (3) for at least partially purifying CO, for example a permeation unit, which produces under pressure the CO with high purity or an H2/CO mixture with an adjusted CO content, containing very little impurities.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2000Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour L'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventor: Yves Engler

Patent number: 6312767Abstract: A process for the surface treatment of a running substrate by an electrical discharge created between two roller electrodes, comprising a first roller electrode and a second roller electrode, in a gas mixture comprising the steps of passing the substrate in between the two roller electrodes by applying it against the first roller electrode; injecting the gas mixture between the rollers to apply a first surface treatment to the substrate; passing the substrate in between the two roller electrodes by applying it against a second roller electrode; and injecting the gas mixture between the rollers to apply a second surface treatment to the substrate.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1998Date of Patent: November 6, 2001Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventors: Alain Villermet, François Coeuret, Panayotis Cocolios, Bernd Martens, Eckhard Prinz, Jürgen Salge

Patent number: 6010556Abstract: In a process for separating a gas mixture in a pressure swing adsorption device comprising an adsorber, two outlet vessels and a rotary machine at the inlet, the rotation of the rotary machine is reversed during the first depressurization step (c-d) then during the first repressurization step (g-h), so that these first steps are each broken down into two sub-steps in which the inlet for the adsorber successively experiences two opposite flows, whereas the outlet of the adsorber experiences a flow, respectively leaving or entering, of constant direction. The process is particularly useful in the production of oxygen from air.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1998Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme Pour L'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventor: Pierre Petit

Patent number: 5426947Abstract: All the air to be distilled is compressed to a first high pressure and is thereafter separated into two portions. The first portion, representing at least 70% of the flow, is boosted to a second high pressure and cooled down in a heat exchanger to an intermediate temperature, where a part thereof is work expended to the mean pressure while the remainder is liquefied. The second portion is cooled and liquefied in the heat exchange line, into one or a plurality of flows at one or more pressures between the first and second high pressures.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1994Date of Patent: June 27, 1995Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventor: Maurice Grenier

Patent number: 5137547Abstract: Process for manufacturing a gas component in pure form by separation through adsorption from other components of a gas mixture including inter alia combustible components, of the type in which a flow of the gas mixture at a high cycle pressure is sent through an adsorbent which gives, during a production stage, at the high cycle pressure, the gaseous component which is not adsorbed, for example pure hydrogen, then, during a desorption-elution stage, a desorption gas or residual gas under a low cycle pressure, which is added, after having raised its pressure, to a network of auxiliary gas, which is available under higher pressure, the addition of the residual gas to the auxiliary gas being carried out by sending the residual gas into an ejector which operates under the effect of a driving gas normally available under high pressure.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 1991Date of Patent: August 11, 1992Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour L'Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventor: Denis Chretien
