  • Patent number: 4708836
Abstract: A cranium is firstly produced form an epoxy resin, whose thickness is adapted so that the compressive strength at a given point is the same as at the corresponding point of a real cranium. This is followed by the fitting of the soft parts, i.e. the brain, eyeballs, flats of the ear and nasal pyramid. These members are made from a silicone to which a variable quantity of oil has been added to ensure that their hardness is the same as that of the corresponding real organs. The cranium is then placed on a support permitting the correct orientation thereof in the mould where the skin is cast.

  • Patent number: 4700184
Abstract: A field of useful data is split into a number of basic entities, called "data groups". Each data group is, in turn, split into smaller basic entities or "data blocks". Each resulting data block is inserted in a data packet to be transmitted through a teletext or videotext network. Therefore, an input coupler has two functional parts: a data group generator and a data packet generator.

  • Patent number: 4654862
Abstract: An analyzer for noise signals which are transmitted by a telephone pair in a telephone cable is connected to a digital transmission equalizer. A delimiting circuits delimits the binary stream generated by the threshold detector into data packets such that each stream is considered to be a unique packet as long as the stream does not comprise a predetermined number of zeros. At predetermined instants, writing is triggered into a random access data memory to store the contents of a schedule data register, of a storage register and of a frame unique word register. The time base also comprises an output connected to an incrementing input of an address counter and to an output connected to the zero reset input of storage register.

  • Patent number: 4652078
Abstract: The electrode structure comprises in each section three parallel microbands of identical width, the first and second microband covering first and second optical guides respectively and being separated by a width giving to the propagating line which they form a characteristic impedance equal to the required adaptation impedance; the third microband is far enough away from the second band for the contribution of the former to such characteristic impedance to be negligible. The covering of the first and second optical guides by the first and second microbands alternates from one section to the next section and the passage from a first section to a second section is obtained by a transition zone comprising inclined microbands.

  • Patent number: 4613216
Abstract: An episcope is provided which allows viewing in either the forward or rearward directions through the same episcope. A parallelogram shaped main optical unit has a forward facing first objective lens and a first eyepiece lens. Light entering through the first objective lens strike one pair of faces of the main optical unit at an angle greater than or equal to the critical angle so that it is reflected by the parallel faces through the first eyepiece. An upper optical unit is disposed above the main optical unit and has a rearward facing objective lens. • Patent number: 4602328
Abstract: A system for the management of the physical memory of a processor which utilizes a base register which is loaded, for each virtual address of the memory, by a base address of a discriptive register corresponding to a task to be performed by the processor. This system utilizes a descriptive register table, an adder receiving the binary value of the base address of the first descriptive register, and the binary value of the index corresponding to the first register. The outputs of the adder address one of the inputs of the descriptive register table, thus selecting a segment descriptive register corresponding to the task to be performed. Each of the descriptive registers of the table contains control bits sent to the processor which makes it possible for the processor to check whether, for the segment to which the processor must have access, the processor must operate in the local or overall mode and whether the processor must process an input-output operation or an access to the memory.

  • Patent number: 4575689
Abstract: The high frequency oscillator includes a piezo-electric crystal (1) which is connected to at least two exciter electrodes (3, 4) and means which make it possible to apply on the one hand to the electrodes (3, 4) electric excitation power for the crystal according to a useful vibratory mode which is selected to determine a frequency reference, and on the other hand additional electric power for exciting the crystal according to an overtone vibratory mode which is distinct from the useful vibrational mode. Means (46, 47) are also provided to regulate the electric excitation power of the crystal according to the useful vibratory mode in a predetermined and constant proportion in relation to the additional electric power. The invention makes it possible to compensate, using the isochronism deficiency stemming from the additional vibration on the useful mode, the indirect amplitude-frequency effect stemming from the additional vibration, and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4551839
Abstract: A videotex asynchroneous transmission system uses a parity bit for each character, with a continuous ARQ-type retransmission method. The data are transmitted in blocks (so-called "code words"). Each code word is comprised of a block of seventeen bytes "1"-"15" constituting the characters which are to be transmitted encoded by seven bits b1-b7. The 8th bit b8 of each byte is the parity bit. The 16th byte is the check byte of the code word, and the 17th byte being the enabling byte of the code word.

  • Patent number: 4543547
Abstract: The invention relates to a filter for demodulating signals modulated in frequency in binary manner by the switching of two frequencies F.sub.a and F.sub.b.On a piezoelectric crystal, is produced two surface wave filtering units, each comprising a transmitting transducer and a receiving transducer with interdigitated electrodes. The number of electrodes of the receiving transducer of the first unit is substantially equal to twice (2F.sub.a -F.sub.b)/2(F.sub.b -F.sub.a ) with a spacing of v/(2F.sub.a -F.sub.b), in which v is the propagation rate. In the case of the second unit, this number is approximately twice (2F.sub.b -F.sub.a)/2(F.sub.b -F.sub.a) with a spacing of v/(2F.sub.b -F.sub.a). The receiving transducers are preferably subdivided in each case into two juxtaposed transducers, whereof one is set back with respect to the other by a distance of approximately v/4F.sub.a for the first unit and v/4F.sub.b for the second.

  • Patent number: 4536327
Abstract: The present invention relates to a conductive composition for protecting electric connections from parasitic currents, particularly those due to irradiations of X-ray photons. It comprises a silicone elastomer, preferably of the cold-curing type, mixed with a solvent and filled with fine particles of carbon black forming an electrically homogeneous structure after polymerization. Metallic conductors of electrical connections are thus coated with this composition by means of an apparatus comprising a hermetic housing 1 containing the electrical connection 3 to be coated and connected by an at least partially transparent tube 4 to an impregnation tank 5 at whose outlet a tubular furnace 12 is present, a partial vacuum being applied in the housing and the tube. Application to the protection of electrical connections which are exposed to X-rays is shown in FIG. 1.
