Abstract: A system for delivering a CO.sub.2 laser beam to the roots of a tooth is provided. The system includes a laser beam source, a first fiber having a first diameter connected to the laser beam source at its proximal end and to a hand piece at its distal end, the hand piece including an optical assembly operative to transfer the beam from the distal end of the first fiber to the proximal end of a second fiber having a second diameter smaller than the first diameter with substantial power loss.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for laser-assisted hair transplantation preferably utilizes a CW mode CO.sub.2 laser, which may already have been installed in a surgeon's office, and a flashscanner to scan the laser over the area of holes to be drilled, thereby minimizing thermal necrosis on the recipient walls or slits. Optionally, a computer controls the laser/flashscanner assembly to redirect the beam from hole to hole, so as to rapidly drill a plurality of uniformly spaced holes. Advantageously, the time duration of the laser procedure is not limited, but depends instead on the CW laser power level parameters and the focal length selected for the procedure, thereby affording the surgeon significant flexibility in choosing appropriate treatment parameters.

Abstract: A system for causing uniform ablation of irradiated material of living tissue while not causing damage below a predetermined depth where laser radiation is provided sequentially and continuously in a predetermined pattern is disclosed.
Abstract: A foot switch for systems such as laser surgery systems. The foot switch utilizes a base, a signal generator connected to the base and a cover rotatably connected to the base in such a way that the cover can be rotated from a first closed position to a second open position. Thus the foot switch is compact and light weight.
