Abstract: A washing machine is provided. The washing machine controls a dehydration rotation speed by detecting a phase difference between a ball balancer and the laundry. Further, the washing machine controls a dehydration rotation speed at a dehydration segment based on a dehydration rotation speed of a driving device. Thereby, the washing machine minimizes energy using in a dehydration process by accelerating the dehydration rotation speed at a point at which a phase difference between the ball balancer and the laundry is a maximum. Further, by accelerating the dehydration rotation speed at a point at which the phase difference is a maximum, a vibration of the washing machine is remarkably reduced.

Abstract: A memory structure and method for implementing an on screen display (OSD) is disclosed. The present invention separates a command area, which stores small but frequently updated data causing fatal errors due to erroneous read, from a bitmap area, which stores relatively larger data, less frequently updated than the command area and which is not sensitive to errors. Thus, OSD memory structure and method allows an external host processor to effectively control the OSD process. Also, the command area further comprises a global command and a plurality of local commands, wherein the global command contains common control information to the local commands and control information other than OSD information, thereby allowing the external host processor to effectively control the OSD even when implementing multistandard OSD where a plurality of bitmap and commands for these bitmap are constructed in an external memory.
Abstract: Device and method for converting a video format of a digital T.V. which can convert an SD video into an HD video, the device including a VLD for making a variable length decoding of a received bit stream to determine a received video source of being an SD video and provide a relevant signal according to a result of the determination, a detector for detecting existence of edge components of the SD image using inverse quantized DCT coefficients, and a format converter for interpolating and format converting an SD image data obtained by adding an IDCT SD image data and a motion compensated SD image data into an HD image data by applying an interpolation equation according to signal from the VLD and the detector, whereby distortion of the image and degradation of a picture quality are prevented.
