  • Patent number: 10962324
Abstract: A handguard and related method are provided. The handguard can include a clamp with opposing ramped surfaces, wedges engaging the ramped surfaces, and fasteners extending through the wedges and opposite sides of the handguard. Rotating the fasteners urges the wedges against the ramped surfaces to urge the clamp and a corresponding clamp element against a barrel to clamp the handguard to it. Where multiple fasteners are included, they can extend in opposite directions over the barrel, and can have reversed locking directions to distribute clamping forces to the barrel evenly. The clamp and wedges can prevent rotation of the handguard and provide parallel upward and downward movement. A fastener can extend through a wedge bore without engaging that wedge bore, while another fastener can threadably engage another wedge bore in the same wedge to provide horizontal wedge movement via rotation of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 10724829
Abstract: An optical device includes a toolless rezero system and/or a zero locking system. The rezero system can operate in a first mode in which a scale ring is non-rotatable relative to an axis. The ring can be manually moved to a second mode, where the ring is rotatable relative to the axis, so alphanumeric characters and bars can be moved about the axis to align a preselected zero element with a reference element and rezero the device. The zero locking system can include a locking cover button that is manually movable to automatically operate a locking ring in a first mode in which it rotatably couples the dial with an adjusting pin to move a reticle, and in a second mode in which it couples the adjustment dial to an immovable wheelbase so the dial is non-rotatable, and the reticle is locked in position. Related methods are provided.

  • Patent number: 10690434
Abstract: A support pod that supports a weapon in a firing position includes a support tube telescopingly joined with a leg having a longitudinal axis. A lock portion defines grooves downwardly angled relative to the longitudinal axis. A guide portion defines recesses downwardly angled relative to the axis. The recesses can be distal and separate from the grooves, and both optionally are downwardly spiraling. The leg is operable in a locked mode, in which a lock element is in a groove, and a guide element is in a corresponding recess, to set a first overall length of the support. The leg can operate in an adjustment mode in which the lock and guide element can transition out from the groove and recess, and can move to other respective grooves and recesses chosen by a user to set the pod at another overall length. A related method of use is provided.

  • Patent number: 10670369
Abstract: A handguard assembly and related method are provided. The handguard assembly can include a fastener assembly that installs in a handguard bore of a handguard. The fastener assembly can include a fastener head including first threads threaded in a first direction, a shaft extending from the fastener head, the shaft including second threads threaded in a second direction opposite the first direction, and a lock tab threadably engaging the second threads, the lock tab including a tab head. When the fastener assembly is converted from a retracted mode to an extended mode, the tab head can wedge into a barrel nut groove to secure the handguard to the barrel nut thereby impairing the handguard from rotating and/or sliding relative to the barrel nut. The shaft can thread into the lock tab when the fastener assembly is installed relative to the groove, with the overall length of the fastener assembly increasing as the tab head moves in the groove.

  • Patent number: 10612880
Abstract: An index mount for a firearm includes a mounting base, a connector flange and a selectively configurable paddle, joined with the connector flange, and configured to establish a resting surface to index a digit of a user relative to the firearm and consistently establish a particular grip relative to the firearm. The mount can include an indexing element that aligns and/or sets the paddle in first or second positions relative to the mounting base. The paddle can be configured with a forward cant and/or a rearward cant and can be adjusted to fit the user's preferences. The paddle can include an upper surface canted at an outward angle between 55° and 85°, inclusive. A related method of use is provided.

  • Patent number: 10393467
Abstract: A dust cover for a firearm includes a panel, a hinge pin and a spring disposed around the hinge pin. The spring engages the hinge pin so that the spring is non-slidable relative to the hinge pin. The spring includes a first prong that engages the panel to bias the panel away from the ejection port. The spring includes a second prong, distal from the first prong, that is manually engageable by a user to slide the hinge pin within a panel passageway while the spring remains non-slidable relative to the hinge pin so as to remove a part of the hinge pin from a hole defined by the firearm and thereby free the dust cover for removal from the firearm. A related method of use is provided.

  • Patent number: 10302394
Abstract: An apparatus includes an adjustment knob, an inner locking ring, and an outer locking ring threadably coupled to the inner locking ring. The adjustment knob includes at least one tooth protruding radially inward from an inner peripheral edge of the adjustment knob. The inner locking ring includes at least one tooth protruding radially outward from the inner locking ring and configured to engage the at least one tooth of the adjustment knob to prevent rotational movement of the adjustment knob. The outer locking ring is configured to move the inner locking ring in a first axial direction toward the adjustment knob when the outer locking ring is rotated in a first rotatable direction. The outer locking ring is also configured to move the inner locking ring in an opposite second axial direction away from the adjustment knob when the outer locking ring is rotated in an opposite second rotatable direction.

  • Patent number: 10295292
Abstract: A biased latch subassembly is disclosed. The biased latch subassembly includes a shaft body, a rocker latch, a latch pin, a biasing member and a latch actuator. The latch pin rotatably-connects the rocker latch to the shaft body. The biasing member is disposed against the rocker latch and the shaft body. The latch actuator engages a portion of the shaft body. The latch actuator is manipulatable between at least a first position relative the shaft body and a second position relative the shaft body. When the latch actuator is arranged in the first position, the latch actuator urges the rocker latch into an un-latched position with the shaft body. When the latch actuator is arranged in the second position, the latch actuator permits the rocker latch to assume a latched position relative the shaft body. A pod assembly is also disclosed, which includes the biased latch subassembly and an indexing plate.
