  • Patent number: 6899490
Abstract: An auger/cut off assembly for a floating screed asphalt paver. The auger/cut off assembly consists of an auger mechanism with an axis of rotation and a cut off mechanism. The cut off mechanism has a concave cut off panel that rotates about the axis of the auger mechanism from an open strike off position to a closed cut off position. Because the concave cut off panel closely conforms to a portion of the circumference of the auger mechanism, the cut off mechanism provides for low ground clearance. The concave cut off panel serves the dual function of striking off the paving material when in the open strike off position and cutting off the deposit of paving material when in the closed cut off position.

  • Patent number: 6817849
Abstract: A curb or other structure is formed by a moving slip form mold receiving material used to form the structure from a hopper. The slip form mold includes two portions pivotally connected to each other. In one configuration, the slip form mold portions form a straight structure and in another configuration they are employed to form a curved structure.

  • Patent number: 4177832
Abstract: An inline ball valve of a relatively small outer diameter, with external connecting portions formed at the ends thereof, which when open provides a passage therethrough which is free of voids. The external connecting portions for making an inline connection of the valve can be threaded, flanged, or adapted for quick clamps. A two-piece cage is provided inside of the ball valve for rotatably supporting the internal ball. The two-piece cage is formed with openings, one through each piece, which are aligned with the openings in the valve body. Each cage piece includes an annular surface, formed around the opening in a plane perpendicular to the flow passage, which is engaged by a mating annular surface on the valve body, to force the cage pieces together and into high pressure contact with the ball when the valve body is assembled. High pressure contact between the cage and the ball occurs in proximity to the annular cage surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4157877
Abstract: An apparatus for compacting subgrade and pavement materials during a road building operation, and which is characterized by the ability to selectively perform a plurality of distinct road rolling functions to thereby facilitate a road building operation. The apparatus is self-propelled and includes compacting means which comprises a pair of steel cylindrical rollers and two sets of rubber wheels having overlapping tracks. Provision is made for selectively moving the sets of rubber wheels into and out of operative engagement with the ground, whereby selective compaction by the independent operation of either the steel cylindrical rollers or the rubber wheels may be effected, and without simultaneous operation by the non-operating compacting means. A unitary steering system is also provided whereby the direction of the apparatus may be controlled when either compacting means is in operation.
