Patent number: 5353507Abstract: An adjustable beading and grooving tool having a combination handle and fence within which a blade holder telescopes. The holder is a longitudinally slotted cylinder having two holder arms, or may be two half-cylinders, between which a blade may be fixed to project a desired distance from the holder, thereby establishing the depth of workpiece surface penetration. The blade holder is separately, adjustably fixed in the handle with the blade located a desired distance from the fence surface to establish the location of the profile to be formed with respect to the workpiece edge against which the fence bears during use.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1993Date of Patent: October 11, 1994Assignee: Lee Valley Tools Ltd.Inventors: Leonard G. Patent number: 5301934Abstract: A twin screw vise utilizing two threaded vise screw rods that are journaled through flanged nuts fixed to a workbench top or to a rear, fixed bench jaw. The vise screws pass through a movable front jaw and into tee-castings and handles that may be turned to rotate the screws. Sprockets are located on each screw between the tee castings and the front jaw and are coupled by a chain. One of the sprockets is fixed in position on its screw during a calibration procedure. The other sprocket remains free to rotate on its screw, except when a spring loaded pin in the corresponding tee-casting engages a depression in the face of the sprocket, thereby coupling that sprocket to the tee casting and associated screw.Type: GrantFiled: August 10, 1992Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Lee Valley Tools Ltd.Inventors: John S. Patent number: 5284331Abstract: A woodworking bench and related fixtures providing an integrated system of bench features, vises, dogs, panel clamps, hold-downs and fixtures that cooperate to provide a highly flexible workpiece holding and clamping apparatus able to accommodate a wide variety of shapes and sizes of workpieces and hold such workpieces in an enormous variety of positions during numerous different operations. Two substantial slabs provide the bench top surface and carry a rectilinear pattern (in rows and files) of round, vertical bench dog holes. The rectilinear pattern of round bench dog holes with specific, equal spacing between holes, and similar holes in the edge of the top, facilitate great flexibility in clamping using conventional round dogs in the bench top holes and corresponding dogs in bench edge-mounted, or end-mounted vises. Such holes also accommodate other clamping, fixing and hold-down fixtures that contribute to flexibility and utility.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1992Date of Patent: February 8, 1994Assignee: Lee Valley Tools Ltd.Inventors: Leonard G. Patent number: 5076742Abstract: A hinge drilling jig for use in the "32 mm" or face-frameless system of cabinet construction for locating and drilling the hinge cup and the hinge cup mounting screw holes to be drilled in a cabinet door. A flat bottom drill bit is slideably retained in a jig body for drilling the hinge cup hole, and two thumbscrews locate the jig on the face of the cabinet door relative to its vertical edge. A collar retains the drill bit in the body and a shoulder on the drill bit and annular rings cut on the shank of the drill bit allow measurement of the depth of the hinge cup hole prior to being drilled by the drill bit. A plurality of countersinks on the body locate the position of the hinge mounting screw holes on the face of the cabinet door in predetermined positions. The jig is held in position on the door by a handle or a clamping arm having a clamping screw and a gauge assembly locates the jig on the face of the cabinet door relative to the second edge.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1991Date of Patent: December 31, 1991Assignee: Lee Valley Tools Ltd.Inventors: Leonard G.
