  • Publication number: 20150309561
Abstract: An embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, at a device having at least one input device, a plurality of user inputs within a predetermined time; determining, using a processor of the device, a collective intent based on the plurality of user inputs; said determining comprising mapping at least two of the plurality of user inputs to a common command; and committing, using a processor of the device, an action according to the common command. Other aspects are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20150161249
Abstract: An embodiment provides a method, including: collecting, using a user device, user object event data; collecting, using a user device, contextual data related to the user object event data; creating, using at least one processor, an association between the contextual data and the user object event data; forming, using a processor having access to a stored group of associations between contextual data and user object event data, a user profile based on the group of associations; and storing, in a memory, the user profile. Other aspects are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20140056202
Abstract: While an information handling device is in a reduced power state, the information handling device transitions from the reduced power state to a higher power state in response to receiving a message over an established wireless network connection that maintains a presence on a wireless network. In turn, the information handling device processes the message accordingly in the higher power state.

  • Patent number: 7676430
Abstract: The Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA) Specification is implemented to allow a credit card company to remotely install a credit card private key into a TCPA module to create a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). More specifically, when a credit worthy user applies for a credit card, the user will send the credit card company a public portion of a “non-migratable storage key,” which is accredited a TPM endorsed by a Certification Authority. The credit card company will create its own public/private key pair according to the TCPA Specification, to create a TCPA header, and wrap the full structure by encrypting it with the public portion of the TCPA non-migratable storage key. The credit card company then sends by email the encrypted bundle with a certificate for it, and sends a corresponding pass phrase by regular mail.

  • Patent number: 7543181
Abstract: Provided are methods, data processing systems, recovery components and computer programs for recovering from storage failures affecting data repositories. At least a part of the recovery processing is performed while the data repositories are able to receive new data and to allow retrieval of such new data. Although new data items may be received into the repository and retrieved therefrom during recovery processing, updates to the data repository which were performed before the failure and which are then restored to the repository by the recovery processing are restored within a recovery unit of work and are inaccessible to processes other than the recovery process until successful completion of the recovery unit of work. The recovery processing ensures that the recovered repository is consistent with the state of the repository at the time of the failure, but is available for addition and retrieval of new data items before completion of the recovery processing.

  • Patent number: 7484105
Abstract: An update utility requests a signature verification of the utility's signature along with a request to unlock the flash memory stored in the utility. A trusted platform module (“TPM”) performs a signature verification of the utility using a previously stored public key. Upon verification of the signature, the TPM unlocks the flash memory to permit update of the utility. Upon completion of the update, the flash utility issues a lock request to the TPM to relock the flash memory.

  • Patent number: 7142385
Abstract: A method, apparatus and program storage device for magnetic disk drive protection is provided. A stable position data storage stores stable-state information representing a magnetic disk drive in an operating environment that satisfies a certain condition. An acceleration sensor senses changes in acceleration acting on the magnetic disk drive and a rest-state measuring unit determines whether the magnetic disk drive is in a state of rest based on information acquired by the acceleration sensor. An operating state determination unit, in response to a first determination by the rest-state measuring unit that the magnetic disk drive is in a state of rest, determines when the state of rest corresponds to the stable-state information stored in the stable position data storage, and sets a detection sensitivity to a sign that which indicates an impending shock to the magnetic disk drive based on a result of a second determination.
