In particular, a node may facilitate bidding for the business of forwarding digital objects in a data transmission network. The node may receive a first bid request and generate a second bid request based on the first bid request. The second bid request may be transmitted to one or more intermediary nodes, and the node may receive one or more bids responsive to the second bid request. The node may subsequently receive and forward a digital object specified by the first bid request.
