Patent number: 8925990Abstract: An apparatus for moving a slide-out room disposed in an aperture of a side wall of a vehicle from a retracted position to an extended position in a drive direction. The apparatus includes a drive assembly supported by the side wall of the vehicle within the aperture, and the drive assembly includes a prime mover having a brake engagable to inhibit unintentional movement of the slide-out room. A driven assembly is driven by the drive assembly. The driven assembly is connected to a wall of the slide-out room such that the slide-out room moves with the driven assembly from the retracted position to the extended position in the drive direction.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2012Date of Patent: January 6, 2015Assignee: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Leonard D. Patent number: 8690128Abstract: An anodized aluminum hydraulic leveling cylinder 10 for a vehicle includes an extruded hollow body 20 having a vehicle attachment portion 24 for attaching the body to the underside of a vehicle. A piston 80 is slidably fitted into the interior of the body. The piston is formed of ductile aluminum capable of being machined to a desirable shape and dimensions. The piston is hard anodized and PTFE coated for durable and silent operation. Hydraulic oil passage means 23a, 23b is formed in the body, and a cap 50 with a pair of dual flow-through passages 53 is attached to the top end 30 of the body for permitting the flow of pressurized hydraulic oil into and out of the interior of the body to effect axial movement of the piston. Hydraulic fluid may be transferred through one or more hollow mounting bolts.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2009Date of Patent: April 8, 2014Assignee: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Michael A. Publication number: 20140026421Abstract: A slide-out or retractable room for a mobile living quarters, such as a recreational vehicle, is provided with actuating assemblies mounted on opposite side walls of the slide-out room and the adjacent wall of the main living area. The actuating assemblies include a pair of parallel gear racks mounted on the side wall, which are engaged by pinions rotated by torque shafts mounted on the main living quarters. Each torque shaft is rotated by a separate motor. A roller engages a bearing surface on the lower portion of the gear racks. Accordingly, the slide-out room is extended and retracted by rotating the torque shafts to cause the gear racks and the attached slide-out room to extend and retract. The weight of the slide-out room is supported by the rollers, thereby supporting the slide-out room off of the floor of the main living quarters as it extends and retracts. A synchronizing control operates the motors.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2013Publication date: January 30, 2014Applicant: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventors: Michael SCHWINDAMAN, Thomas J. Publication number: 20120150394Abstract: A system for extending and retracting a folding trailer. The trailer has a movable top extending from a base, and a plurality of extendible supports mounted on the base and connected to the top. A drive including an electric motor extends and retracts the extendible supports in unison to extend and retract the top. A controller is provided for the drive, the controller having a motor load monitor having both an ultimate load detector and a calculated load detector. In extending and retracting the top, the load of the electric motor is regularly monitored, and is first compared with an ultimate load threshold. The motor is stopped if the ultimate load threshold is met or exceeded. The monitored load is also compared with a stall load threshold, and the motor remains in operation until the stall load threshold is met or exceeded.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2010Publication date: June 14, 2012Applicant: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: Michael A. Patent number: 7918478Abstract: An equalizer for a suspension system for a trailer is configured to absorb or dampen the harsh shocks or vibrations coming off of the leaf springs proximate to a center frame hangar, thus allowing for a “softer” ride. The equalizer utilizes one or two independent equalizer arm assemblies or castings which are each rotatably secured within the equalizer. Each equalizer arm assembly or casting is operatively associated with one of the leaf springs such that upon upward movement of the leaf spring, the associated equalizer arm assembly or casting is forced to rotate within the equalizer and to deform a shock absorber provided within the equalizer. The shock absorber, upon the deformation thereof, absorbs the harsh shocks or vibrations which would otherwise normally be transferred from the leaf springs, to the equalizer, and thus to the frame of the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2006Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Lippert Components Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: E. Dale Fenton
