  • Publication number: 20170263254
Abstract: A voice command device (VCD) has privacy protection. The VCD comprises a processor, first and second input devices, at least one data line to couple the first and second input devices to the processor, a power supply, and a sensor power line to couple the first and second input devices to the power supply. The VCD also comprises a manually operated mechanical switch on the sensor power line, to divide the sensor power line into a first leg comprising the power supply and a second leg comprising the input devices. The VCD also comprises an active sensor indicator light on the second leg of the sensor power line. The indicator light is configured to indicate whether the input devices are operational, based on a power level of the second leg of the sensor power line. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20170019876
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a method, system and apparatus for autonomous Wi-Fi location determination by using information from neighboring access points (APs) along with an optional range measurements. In one embodiment, a root AP determines its location as a function of neighboring AP's location and the distance measured between the root AP and each of the corresponding neighbors. The location information can be stored internally or reported to external resource.

  • Publication number: 20170019762
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a method and apparatus for using a location token to locate a mobile device in a mapped environment. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to identifying an AP in the environment using an AP location token. By finding a map from a map vendor which has a substantially identical map token, the AP and the map may be matched together. Once the AP is matched to the map, its exact location will be known. The location of a mobile device may be determined in relation to the AP's location. The same process may be used to identify the location of several APs on a map and thereby identify the location of the mobile device relative to the APs.

  • Publication number: 20170003373
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a method, system and apparatus for calibrating a wireless device for accurate Time-of-Flight (ToF) range determination. In one embodiment, the disclosure provides a method for calibrating a device by identifying a plurality of access points (APs) at the device; identifying a first AP of the plurality of APs, the first AP positioned immediately above the device; determining a real-time ToF value for the first AP; determining a device calibration coefficient from the real-time ToF value for first AP. The disclosed method has many advantages, including simplicity and scalability. Further, the device need not know its location, its distance between from the AP or the AP's identity.
