Abstract: A composite closure for a container having a ring shaped cap with a ring shaped top and an annular skirt depending downwardly from the outer periphery of the top. The skirt is provided with internal threads for engaging external threads on the container neck. A disk shaped lid insert has its outer peripheral edge annularly received in an annular internal lid retaining groove in the cap which permits relative rotation between the lid insert and the threaded cap. An elastic annular seal is received in an annular groove provided in the bottom side of the lid insert for sealing the upper edge of a container.

Abstract: A blow molded plastic container and lid combination wherein a bayonet type thread lock mechanism is provided between an exterior skirt portion of the lid and an interior side wall portion of the container to secure them together. The lid is further provided with a circumferential perimeter overhang that has an inverted U-shaped rim channel above this bayonet type thread lock mechanism for circumferentially receiving and engaging the top end of the container. An inwardly directed annular shoulder is also provided on the container side wall between this bayonet thread lock mechanism and the top end portion of the container whereby a split ring clamp circumferentially secures the chime area of the lid and container combination in sealed engagement. The split ring clamp has an inwardly open U-shaped channel for engaging this container annular shoulder and also circumferential top portions of the lid to clamp them together in vertical compressed engagement.

Abstract: A plastic blow molded containr and lid combination wherein the double-walled lid is screwed to the top of the container and a parallel pair of horizontal recesses are provided on opposite sides of the container wall for receiving forks of a forklift for lifting and otherwise manipulating the container with a conventional forklift. The bottom of the container is also provided with forklift access recesses for lifting and manipulating the container from the bottom with a conventional forklift. The underside of the lid is provided with a protrusion for engaging the upper end of a salvage drum within the container to confine the drum between the top and bottom of the container. An override lid lock mechanism is provided to prevent the lid from accidentally unthreading itself. In addition, central portions of the bottom of the container are recessed upwardly with respect to perimeter portions of the container bottom so that the container in an empty condition will stably rest on a surface without easily tipping.
