Abstract: A fire resistant air transfer grille or damper (10), suitable for use as a ventilating means in fire resistant doors, walls and ventilation ducts, includes an outer frame (12) and a plurality of slats (14). Each of the slats (14) is provided with an intumescent core and is positioned in one of a number of predetermined positions within the outer frame (12). The predetermined positions are determined by a number of recesses (26) provided in the outer frame (12). The outer frame (12) may be formed as two separate frame components (16, 18), and is preferably made from steel. The slats (14) are preferably formed from aluminium with an intumescent material provided within the aluminium slat (14) to provide an intumescent core. Each of the slats (14) also preferably includes an elongate channel member (30, 32) along each of two of its side edges, wherein the elongate channel members (30, 32) of each of the slats (14) engage within the recesses (26) in the outer frame (12).
Abstract: A gas seal for providing a seal between a frame and a movable member mounted on the frame, the gas seal comprising an elongate support member having opposed upper and lower faces and opposed first and second sides, and a sealing lip extending along and being joined to the support member, the sealing lip having an anchor portion and a sealing portion, the sealing portion being spaced from the support member by said anchor portion and having an edge which defines a terminal sealing edge of said sealing lip, the sealing lip normally residing in an inoperative position and being movable relative to the support member to an operative position, said anchor and sealing portions extending laterally from the first side when the sealing lip resides in said inoperative position whereas when the sealing lip resides in said operative position said anchor portion resides in face to face contact with said first side with said seal portion projecting laterally beyond the upper face of said support member.
Abstract: A frame assembly includes a non-combustible rigid filler sheet supported within a surrounding support frame made from lengths of a structural frame member joined together. The structural frame member has an elongate body extruded from a heat meltable material and has longitudinally extending cavities. Intumescent material is located in selected cavities.
Abstract: A fire and smoke seal assembly including an elongate casing housing intumescent material and a flexible elongate seal member projecting from the casing, the casing and seal member being co-extruded from compatible plastics materials so as to be integrally connected, the flexible elongate seal member extending along and adjacent to one side of the casing.
