Patents Assigned to Luchaire S.A.
  • Patent number: 4807535
Abstract: A device for reducing drag of a round of ammunition or projectile (1) comprises a gas-producing compound (3) such as a propergol, the combustion of which generates gases at a pressure of at least sufficient value to fill the low-pressure region which is formed at the rear end of a projectile and causes drag. The device comprises a gas-tight casing (2) containing the explosive compound (3) and an igniter (6) for initiating combustion of the compound. The casing comprises fasteners which cooperate with complementary fasteners (11) arranged at the rear end of the round of ammunition so as to permit gas-tight fitting of the casing at the rear end of the projectile, at any moment and in particular at the firing location, in order to reduce drag and to increase the range of the projectile.

  • Patent number: 4793259
Abstract: A rifle grenade comprises, at one end, a tube designed to be fitted to the barrel of a gun and, at the other end, a fuse and a head enclosing an explosive charge, the said tube comprising, upstream of the fuse, a bullet-trap and a booster-charge of propellant powder protected from external influences by a sealed wall. The said sealed wall is integral with a tubular element of the said tube and comprises an axial cavity defining a reduction in the thickness of the wall sufficient to ensure that the bullet shot by the gun shall pierce the wall without tearing it.The purpose is to increase the operational safety of rifle grenade.

  • Patent number: 4764322
Abstract: A process for producing a hollow plastics article, which comprises introducing a polymerizable composition in the hot state into a sealed hot mould, immediately setting the mould in motion by imparting to it a second movement of rotation about a second axis and a third movement of oscillation about a third axis which is perpendicular to the second, so that the composition is applied to the inner walls of the mould, and polymerizing it herein to form a hollow article. The improvement comprises setting the mould in motion by further imparting to it, simultaneously to the second and third movement, a first horizontal movement which has, in a horizontal plane, two components in two directions perpendicular to each other.

  • Patent number: 4747349
Abstract: A bullet trap device for launching, by firing a live bullet, ammunition such as a grenade having a trailing tube to impart thereto a flat trajectory of fire, includes a body to receive the impact of the live bullet, a supporting piece for positioning the body within the trailing tube of the grenade, and a shock absorber part positioned axially between the body and a portion of the supporting piece. The body and the shock absorber parts are formed as an integral, one-piece, solid-forged assembly. A centering ring, separate from the supporting piece, is positioned radially between the shock absorber part and the supporting piece, thereby maintaining the body and the shock absorber part centrally of the axis of the trailing tube of the grenade after firing.

  • Patent number: 4444116
Abstract: This hand grenade comprises a timer for preserving the user's safety when throwing the missile by breaking the pyrotechnic train of the fuse a stabilizing system utilizing the concurrent effects of a weighted ogive and a spread-out empennage adapted when released and operative to brake the missile by aerodynamic effect, thus improving the efficiency of the missile when striking with a low incidence a horizontal surface such as the roof of an armored vehicle. The fins of the empennage are released when removing a safety pin, thus causing the missile to be stabilized in a substantially vertical axial position.

  • Patent number: 4369610
Abstract: An external revetment panel for the thermal insulation of buildings. The panel comprises a shell having upper and lower edges in parallel stepped relationship with the surface, the depth of the lower step being smaller than that of the upper step, the edge of the upper step being bent into a channel section, and the web thereof being formed with holes; gapping means provided on at least one of the stepped edges of the panel; at least one bracket fixed to the free flange of the channel section; and a layer of insulating material fixed to spacing means which are in turn secured to the internal surface of the shell.
