    Abstract: A push-back storage system includes left and right rails welded to strut members, to provide a precise predetermined spacing between the rails. As the spacing between rails is permanently set during manufacture, no on site adjustment or alignment is needed. Carts can roll smoothly on the rails as the spacing between the rails is maintained. A U-bracket or a J-hook at the front of the bedframe facilitates attachment of the bedframe to a front load beam of a rack assembly. The strut members are welded to the rails.

    Abstract: A container assembly includes a container member having an open end, and a lid threadably engagable with the container member for closing the open end of the container member. A locking member is provided on the lid which is engagable with a latch member located on an upper surface of the container member. The locking member is pivotable about a horizontal axis and prevents rotation of the lid with respect to the container member when the locking member is engaged with the latch member. A seal is provided between the lid and the container member. The seal is located between tapered wall members of the lid and the container member such that the seal is gradually compressed as the lid is threadably secured to the container member. The configuration of the lid and the container member, along with the seal, presents a torturous path for fluid movement, thus effectively sealing the container assembly.

    Abstract: A threaded closure assembly includes a first member having an outer surface including a first outwardly directed thread, and an inner surface including a second inwardly directed thread. A unitary closure member for covering an access opening in the first member includes a first inwardly directed thread engageable with the first outwardly directed thread on the first member, and a second outwardly directed thread engageable with the second inwardly directed thread on the first member. A locking mechanism is provided between the closure member and the first member for permitting rotation of the closure member in a first direction, and preventing rotation of the closure member in a second opposite direction. A third set of threads may be provided between the first member and the closure member. The first member can be an open head container, with the closure member formed as a one-piece lid. The threads between the first member and the closure member are synchronized.

    Abstract: A shrink wrap or stretch wrap pallet system including a pair of end panels arranged and configured so as to mount on opposite sides of a package, effectively connecting a base pallet and a top panel. The end panels themselves are spaced from the perimeter of the package. The end panels have vertical edges which extend beyond the perimeter of the package, thereby defining a plane between respective end panels, the plane serving to space the wrap, which lies substantially therein, from the package. The end panels are conveniently sized and shaped to fit within the area of the base pallet, intermediate panels and top panel thereby providing a relatively compact return package. Side panels may be provided to supplement the end panels.

    Abstract: A railway car cushioning device is provided for minimizing slack between railway cars. The cushioning device is provided with a piston and piston rod disposed within the cylinder. The cylinder is filled with an oil and gas mixture. A housing surrounds the cylinder providing a fluid recovery reservoir defined by the space between the outer wall of the cylinder and the housing. At one end of the cylinder is a bulkhead and at the other end is a cylinder head. The piston rod extends through a hole formed in the cylinder head and is joined to the sill of a railcar. A coupler is joined to the cushioning device for coupling to another railway car. A series of pressure relief valves are provided and engaged with egress ports formed in the cylinder wall between the bulk head and the piston when the piston is in an extended position. The pressure relief valves are constructed so that fluid may flow in only one direction, from the interior of the cylinder to the fluid reservoir.

    Abstract: A shock absorber for use with a sliding center sill rail car utilizes an internal gas type spring. The shock absorber has a housing and a cylinder located in the housing that moves with the center sill. An annular outer chamber surrounds the cylinder within the housing. Two pistons are slidably carried in the cylinder for independent movement relative to each other. Each has a shaft that extends in opposite directions. The shafts engage stationary stops mounted stationarily to the frame of the rail car. Ports are located in the side wall of the cylinder for the outflow and inflow of a gas and liquid fluid combination. The ports are symmetrical measured either from the rearward end or the forward end.

    Abstract: A process is provided for the manufacture of ferric sulphate compounds from ferrous sulphate in a closed vessel containing a liquid phase and a vapor phase, the process comprising the oxidation of Fe.sup.++ to Fe.sup.+++ under pressure utilizing commercial oxygen in the closed vessel using NOx as a catalyst where x is a number between 1 and 2 inclusive of 1 and 2 and wherein the process comprises the following reactions: ##EQU1## wherein n is any integer greater than or equal to two (2) and y is any integer which is equal to, or greater than zero (0) and less than 3n and wherein the oxidation of Fe.sup.++ is affected by spraying the liquid phase including a solution containing Fe.sup.++ introduced to the closed vessel, through a reacting cloud comprising NO, NO.sub.2 and O.sub.2 enclosed in the vapor space of the closed vessel and wherein substantially only Ferric ions is present in the liquid phase in the closed vessel relative to the amounts of Ferric and Ferrous ions prior to the addition of FeSO.sub.4.

    Abstract: A non-metallic ladder for use in a manhole in which permanent manhole steps have been installed and spaced relation from the top of the manhole to a position above the bottom and there being a pair of spaced side members on said ladder connected transversely by spaced steps to form corners at the top in which there are spaces to fit over a respective side members on the step. The spaces may be in the shape of a rectangular cross-section or other configuration. The ladder is "hung" from the step to resist dislodgment therefrom. There may be provided a wall bumper member at the bottom of the ladder to engage the inside wall of the manhole.

    Abstract: In a method of producing metallic lead from a material including lead dioxide and/or metallic lead, including a step for dissolving the lead contained in the material and an electrolysis step for the cathodic deposition of the dissolved lead, the dissolving step is carried out with the use of an acid electrolyte in the presence of a redox couple which has a potential between its oxidised and reduced oxidation states such as to reduce the lead dioxide and/or oxidise the lead and which can be regenerated during the step for the electrochemical deposition of the dissolved lead. The method is used, in particular, for the production of lead from the active material of spent accumulators.

The stored control program contains a plurality of profiles, each including a plurality of successively executed steps defining the operation sequence of the motor. Each step includes programmed instructions defining a predetermined amount of rotation of the motor output shaft and a predetermined event which must occur before the step is executed. In one embodiment, the controller selectively controls the speed of the motor in each step. The controller supplies a signal, programmed in each step, to a variable frequency A.C. drive which correspondingly varies the frequency of A.C. power supplied to the motor to vary the operating speed of the motor.

There is also an electrical mechanical starter mechanism for initiating movement within the engine. In addition there is a first oil supply system having a main engine oil pump which circulates oil to the first plurality of moveable parts and responds to movement within the engine. Also a supplemental engine oil pump communicates with the first oil supply system. The vehicle also has N oil supply systems. Each of the N oil supply systems have a corresponding main oil pump which circulates oil to the corresponding plurality of moveable parts in response to movement within the corresponding system.

    Abstract: A thermal gravity classifier in which various nonferrous scrap metals are classified and separated, using a single tank containing two layers of molten media. Shredded nonferrous scrap containing metal constituents such as aluminum, zinc, lead, and copper or the like are introduced to the top of the tank containing an upper layer of molten zinc, floating on a lower layer of molten lead. Metals such as aluminum, having a specific gravity less than zinc, by a screw conveyor approximately parallel with the top surface. Heavier metals and alloys such as copper or the like, having a melting point above the temperature within the tank, fall through the zinc layer and are conveyed from the tank by a separate screw conveyor extending up a diagonal wall of the tank. Metals such as lead and zinc, having a melting point lower than the temperature maintained within the tank, melt and gravitate to the appropriate molten layer in the tank.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a manner of making a core by shearing and bending a strip (36) of sheet metal into ribbons. The ribbons thereby constitute a series of troughs (53) and crests (52). The core is sandwiched between two skins (64,65). The crest and troughs are presented as tubes (66) extending into the interior of the core from an edge of the panel. Polyurethane foam is injected into these tubes. The foam rises and sticks the cores to the skins. The resulting panel is strong, rigid, durable, inexpensive, and extremely versatile.
