Patents Assigned to M.A.N. Maybach Mercedes-Benz
  • Patent number: 4172771
Abstract: The present method produces compound materials by an electrolytic deposit. The extraneous, non-soluble matter is suspended in a fine distribution in the electrolyte. The foreign or extraneous matter and the metal are deposited in the absence of gravity, whereby homogeneous compound materials may be produced having a uniform and/or defined particle distribution. The present apparatus includes a closed electrolytic bath container. A gas separator is operatively connected to the bath. Supply and receiving containers may be connected to the bath container.

  • Patent number: 4050239
Abstract: The useful life of a gas turbine combustion chamber and especially its flame pipe is increased by an improved cooling arrangement which branches off a small proportion of the air from the compressor upstream of the combustion chamber. The branched off air is directed into the combustion chamber and onto the flame pipe so that it flows in a cooling manner around at least the front end of the flame pipe without initially substantially participating in the combustion.

  • Patent number: 4043146
Abstract: The present shaft coupling is intended for releasably linking two or more vices to each other in a torque transmitting manner. The devices may, for example, be turbines each of which has a shaft. Two bearing mounts are provided for one of the shafts, but only one bearing mount is provided for the other shaft at its end remote from the coupling. The coupling between the two shafts is formed by inserting a non-circular end portion of one shaft in a corresponding non-circular aperture in the end of the other shaft. An axially extending bolt firmly clamps the two shafts together in the axial direction. One or both of the shafts may be hollow. The non-circular profiles of the shafts may be splined, or have a polygonal profile, and the polygonal profile may be tapered. A polygonal profile as used herein may be one with only three sides.

  • Patent number: 3989193
Abstract: A jet deflecting device has a first rotatable pipe section connected to the nd of an engine jet pipe and a second pipe section rotatably connected to the end of the first pipe section. Nozzle flaps are provided at the end of the second pipe section, and coupled to be moved inwardly and outwardly in response to axial movement of a nozzle actuating skirt slidably mounted at the end of the second pipe section. A first drive motor on the stationary jet pipe directly rotates the first pipe section by way of driving gears. A second drive motor is coupled by means of gears to rotate the second pipe section independently of rotation of the first pipe section. Actuating devices mounted on the engine jet pipe and providing a linear movement are coupled by way of actuating arms extending externally of the pipe sections to the nozzle actuated skirt for control of the nozzle flaps.

A second drive motor is coupled by gears to rotate the second pipe section independently of rotation of the first pipe section, and a third drive motor is provided for rotating an angular gear carrier on the second pipe section independently of the angular position of the two pipe sections. An angle drive mechanism is provided for converting rotational movement of the angular gear carrier to axial movement of the nozzle actuating skirt for control of the nozzle flaps.
