Abstract: The present invention provides a polymer fiber comprising a thermoplastic polymer comprising the following building blocks A and B: —O—(CH2—CH2—O)n— (A) —O—[CH2]y—O— (B), wherein n is an integer of 10-400, and y is an integer in the range of 2 to 16, wherein A is present in an amount of 15-30 mole %, B is present in an amount of 20-40 mole % and wherein building blocks A and B are linked by the following linking group C: —[(C?O)—NH—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—CH2—NH—(C?O)]— (C) wherein C is present in an amount of 45-55 mole %. The present invention further relates to a method for preparing a polymer fiber, absorbent articles comprising a polymer fiber and the use of a fiber in a product for treating wounds and/or burns.
Abstract: The present invention relates at least in part to devices which are capable of indicating the presence of moisture. Embodiments of the present invention involve the provision of a solid dispersion of a color-forming material in a hydrophilic polyurethane material. In particular, although not exclusively, the present invention relates to devices comprising foam, e.g., hydrophilic polyurethane foam and a color former. Also included in the embodiments of the present invention are methods comprising the use of the devices, and other subject matter.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to antimicrobial compositions comprising inter alia at least one alkenyl- and/or alkynyl-substituted polysiloxane, at least one polysiloxane comprising silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms, and at least one hydrosilylation catalyst, as well as antimicrobial silicone gels, wound dressings, and methods of preparing the above.

Abstract: A method is provided to attach a grip tab along an edge of a carrier layer of a film dressing web, which includes a film layer coated with adhesive on a first side and a carrier layer releasably attached to the film layer on an opposed second side. The method includes choosing a material for the carrier layer that is heat welding incompatible with the film layer, feeding the web in a machine direction, applying a first strip of a material that is heat welding compatible with the carrier layer along part of an edge portion of the web extending parallel to the machine direction, and affixing the first strip to the carrier layer while simultaneously cutting away an outermost part of the web with the first strip applied thereto by passing the web through an ultrasonic welding device.
Abstract: A stiffening layer for facilitating application of a plastic film to skin, the plastic film being a component in a wound dressing or other medical device and having the stiffening layer removably attached to one side thereof, at least a part of the other side of the film being provided with a layer of self-adhering adhesive. The stiffening layer is made of a stretchable material having a thickness of between 0.5-10 mm. The stiffening layer covers the whole area of the film and is divided into two or more portions by cutting line or lines.
Abstract: Provided is a fixation device for retaining a skin penetrating medical device, such as a cannula, on the skin of a patient. The fixation device includes a retaining component including a support layer having an adhesive coating, and a landing zone component, including a support layer having an adhesive coating, the landing zone component being adapted to be adhesively attached to the skin around the point of penetration. The retaining component acts as a skin-contacting component and is adapted to be applied on top of the landing zone component, and at least partially cover the medical device, such that the adhesive coating of the retaining component is applied to the support layer of the landing zone component. The adhesive coating of the retaining component includes a first adhesive, and the adhesive coating of the landing zone component includes a second adhesive, the first adhesive being different from the second adhesive.
Abstract: Provided is a film dressing that includes a thin plastic film coated with an adhesive, and a carrier layer applied on the plastic film on a side opposite to the adhesive coating. The adhesive coating has a softness of 10-22 mm and a weight per unit area of 50 g/m2 or more.
