Abstract: A device for supplying a machine working on a web of material in a stopped position particularly for a flat cutting press and in the vicinity of an intake roller and downstream thereof, in the direction of advance of the web, the device includes an oscillating roller. This roller is mounted for rotation on a support adapted to oscillate about the axis of the intake roller. The oscillating roller is driven in rotation on itself from the intake roller, via a transmission mechanism in such a manner that the peripheral speed of the oscillating roller is identical to that of the web of material winding around part of the periphery of this oscillating roller. A mechanism is provided for provoking a movement of oscillation of the support and of the roller that is bears.

Abstract: Apparatus for forming matchbox skillets from pre-printed sheets, each sheet having a plurality of rows of matchbox blanks printed thereon. The apparatus includes a sheet feeder for storing pre-printed sheets and removing the sheets one-by-one. The sheets are fed to a gravure printing machine, which applies stripes of striking compound material to predetermined areas of the sheets as they pass therethrough. A conveyor is provided for conveying the sheets from the sheet feeder to the gravure printing machine. After leaving the gravure printing machine the stripes of striking compound material are dried in a radio frequency drier. The sheets are then cut into matchbox blanks by cutting machines. The gravure printing machine has an upper engraving roller, a lower pressure roller, and means for feeding the sheets between the two rollers so that the stripes are printed on the upper surface of the sheets in register with the matchbox blanks.

Abstract: Apparatus for stacking and collecting labels includes a suction drum for continuously feeding at least one stream of individual labels to a movable support assembly. The movable support assembly supports a respective stack of labels corresponding to the or each stream fed thereto by the suction drum. A fixed support assembly is provided for receiving the or each stack of labels from the movable support assembly. The movable support assembly is movable relative to the fixed support assembly, firstly to transfer the or each stack of labels to the fixed support assembly, and secondly to push the or each stack of labels off the fixed support assembly. An intermediate support assembly is provided for supporting labels while the movable support assembly pushes the or each stack off the fixed support assembly.

Abstract: A cylinder for a rotary web processing machine comprises a mandrel and a plurality of multi-part rings detachably fixed thereto. Each part of each ring is fixed to the mandrel by first and second screws. Each first screw is effective to clamp the associated ring part to the mandrel and to locate that ring part both radially and axially. Each second screw is effective to clamp the associated ring part to the mandrel.

Abstract: A multi-color printing machine having a plurality of printing units is provided with means for compensating for errors in color registration, for example a device for varying the length of web between one unit and the next, and at least one device for preventing the tension in the web from exceeding an upper limit or falling below a lower limit.
