Patents Assigned to Magic Mold Corporation
  • Patent number: 5673955
Abstract: A gripping device or the like, particularly for gripping hot pans. First and second movable members are formed by molding with structural plastic material. One of the members has a pivot post extending laterally and defining a pivot axis. The other movable member has a tubular pivot member, arranged for a close fit reception over the pivot post to pivotally join the two movable members. At least one pivot post and the tubular pivot member is integral with a movable member. The pivot post has an annular groove, and the tubular pivot member includes a plurality of integral, resilient locking tabs having portions projecting radially inward at a shallow angle to the pivot axis. The two movable members are assembled by forcing the tubular pivot member over the pivot post. The locking tabs are resiliently displaced outwardly during the assembly, and snap into place in the annular groove to positively lock the two parts together.

  • Patent number: 5111959
Abstract: An injection molded plastic follow block for installation in a pre-assembled file drawer having spaced-apart vertical sidewalls with longitudinally extending, recessed guide channels extending lengthwise. The molded follow block incorporates integral, longitudinally extending guide bars of elastically deflectable construction enabling the follow block to be installed in the drawer after assembly and painting thereof. Significant manufacturing economies are realized.

  • Patent number: 5061219
Abstract: A construction toy is disclosed, which includes as principle components a hub-like connector having one or more gripping sockets, and structural elements, typically of strutlike configuration, having end portions specially configured to be received in the gripping sockets. The gripping sockets are comprised of pairs of gripping arms, formed of deflectable plastic material. Outer portions of the gripping arms are provided with concave grooves adapted for lateral, snap-in assembly of a structural element having complimentary cylindrical connector portions. The gripping arms also are provided, near their inner ends, with locking projections arranged to interlockingly mate with annular recesses provided near the ends of the structural elements. The end extremities of the structural elements comprise end flanges, which are received in an end cavity formed at the closed end of the gripping socket, in part by an end wall of the socket and in part by the locking projections.

  • Patent number: 5049105
Abstract: An improved connector element is disclosed, for use in toy construction sets. The connector is of injection molded construction, using a minimum weight of plastic material and designed for high speed, high volume production as extremely low cost. The connector includes lugs arranged to be received within tubular structural elements, for example plastic straws. The lugs have a full-length, longitudinal slot recess defining opposed lug portions normally slightly larger at the outer and inner end extremities than the interior of the structural elements. The slot recess is wider in the center portions then at either end. An integral compression post extends between the opposed lug portions in the region of the wider portions of the slot recess, so that only the outer portions of the lugs deflect inwardly when inserted into a tubular structural element. The body of the connector is formed of a central tubular hub surrounded by a thin walled flange which mounts the lugs.

  • Patent number: 4897292
Abstract: An artificial Christmas tree with folding branches is disclosed. A special form of branch-mounting sleeve and adapter element allow pivoting action to be achieved while enabling the use of conventional, readily-available bent wire branch elements. The adapter element is initially assembled with the bent wire branch, after which the adapter is snapped onto a pivot bar formed by the branch mounting sleeve. The branch wire and adapter are inseparably assembled once the adapter is pivotally attached to the sleeve. Considerable savings are realized by the ability to use conventional bent wire branches.

  • Patent number: 4353663
Abstract: A two piece detachable connector for joining furniture components at right angles comprising a pin and a holding piece, and method of installation. The pin has a head, a neck, a radial shoulder to limit insertion into a bore hole in a first furniture component and an insertion shank having annular fins to retain the pin in the bore hole. The holding piece has a recess to receive the pin head, neck and radial shoulder, a portion of which recess is arcuate and forms a constriction to removably capture the neck of the pin. The holding piece also has sharp, relatively deep annular fins to engage the wall of a bore hole in a second furniture component while permitting limited lateral displacement of the holding piece within the bore hole to accommodate inaccuracies in the relative locations of the bore holes in the furniture components. The pin and holding piece have camming surfaces that cooperate to effect mating engagement during assembly of connector parts.
