  • Patent number: 4661914
Abstract: An energy management controller is coupled via a clock line pair, a "data out" line pair and a "data in" line pair, to a plurality or group of stations each having energy using equipment. Each station is electrically coupled to each line pair at spaced points along the line pairs. Each station counts the number of clock bits from the controller. After each group of a predetermined number of clock bits are received, each station provides an address count that is incremented by one after each group of clock bits are received. By setting each station to a different address count and enabling each station to transmit and receive data only during its respective address count period each station can be individually accessed by the controller without specifically addressing each station. During the address count period for each station serial bits are transmitted to and received from that station by the controller for actuation and control of the energy using equipment for that station.

  • Patent number: 4660040
Abstract: A carrier frequency is frequency modulated with a triangular wave and transmitted from a sensor to a target having relative motion to the sensor. The reflection from the target is received and mixed with a portion of the transmitted signal. At least two harmonics of the modulating frequency are filtered from the output of the mixer. Each harmonic is synchronously detected with an harmonic of the same frequency to obtain a doppler signal that is detected and fed to a comparator. Each harmonic, and its corresponding doppler envelope, amplitude peaks at a respective range to the target. When the doppler of one harmonic exceeds the doppler of another harmonic in amplitude, a predetermined range to the target is signaled by the comparator.

  • Patent number: 4611293
Abstract: A three winding induction compass mounted in a host vehicle has each winding output coupled to an analog to digital converter. Each winding output is weighted and accumulated by a push down stack circuit to obtain a time filtered output and the maximum and minimum values of each filtered output are determined and stored as the vehicle is turned in a 360.degree. circle. The distortions due to the permanent and induced magnetism of the host vehicle and due to winding imbalance between the three windings and misorientation of the three windings are obtained from the maximum and minimum values to obtain calibration parameters. The calibration parameters for the windings are applied to the outputs of the three windings to obtain an equivalent two winding output which is normalized for determining the corrected compass heading.

  • Patent number: 4603282
Abstract: The output of a deflection operational amplifier is coupled through a dissipation circuit to a deflection yoke coil of a stroke written cathode ray tube for deflecting an electron beam on the tube screen. A feedback circuit is coupled between the coil and the inverting input of the amplifier to control the current through the coil. The dissipation circuit comprises a dissipative resistor, such as an incandescent lamp, and a shunt connected bypass capacitor. The dissipation circuit dissipates power during coil steady current conditions such as exist during slow movement or hold of the electron beam on the screen when voltage across the coil is low but coil current may be high. Thus the power otherwise dissipated in the amplifier output transistors is dissipated in the dissipation circuit. The bypass capacitor passes high frequency deflection signals to the coil during coil high instantaneous current conditions corresponding to fast movement or slewing of the electron beam on the tube screen.

  • Patent number: 4593243
Abstract: Coaxial cables each having a cylindrical electrically conductive outer shield and a central conductive wire insulated from the shield are conductively coupled through a connector to coplanar conductors on a dielectric substrate. The conductors converge toward an opening in the substrate. The coplanar conductors alternately are ground and signal conductors. Each coaxial cable shield is conductively coupled to two ground conductors and the cable wire is conductively coupled to the signal conductor between the two ground conductors. At the substrate opening the ground and signal conductors are conductively coupled to planar stripline waveguide ground and signal blades, respectively. Ground blades between the signal blades are a factor in controlling the signal blade impedance and provide isolation between the signal blades. Each blade is perpendicular to the substrate and has a pitch angle such that the blade extends through the opening below the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4590590
Abstract: A sonobuoy float canister is releasably latched to a wound cable pack container. The cable is attached at its upper end to the canister and at its lower end to a lower sonobuoy component. A rotor latches the canister and container together in one rotative position so that the cable is not unwound or payed out to provide a first or shallow depth deployment of the lower component. In a second rotative position of the rotor the canister and container are unlatched from one another and the cable is positively restrained after a predetermined partial payout to provide a medium depth deployment of the lower component. In a third rotative position of the rotor the positive restraint of cable payout is removed and the canister and container are unlatched so that the cable is fully payed out to provide for full depth deployment of the underwater component.

  • Patent number: 4508092
Abstract: A magnetic sensor for a distributorless ignition system is useable in an internal combustion engine. A Hall-effect device is spaced intermediate a pair of opposing permanent magnets for concurrently generating dual magnetic flux fields within respective air gap regions formed between each of the magnets and the device. Alternatively a magnet is placed between two Hall-effect devices to define the regions. A toothed disk rotatably connected to the crank-shaft of the engine causes different teeth to shunt the fields in each of the regions in a predetermined sequence for generating pulses at the device output indicative of the firing order of the engine. Alternatively, a disk having outer and inner notched rims is used to shunt the fields in each of the regions. Further, an elongated channel shaped member has sides movable in the regions for detecting relative linear motion between two parts.

  • Patent number: 4411002
Abstract: To encode an analog to digital signal, a comparator compares an input analog signal with a reconstructed negative feedback analog signal and provides a comparison output digital bit for each comparison. A number of output digital bits is stored in a clocked shift register. A coincidence detector is coupled to the register and provides an output pulse when all the bits in the register are the same. A proportional coincidence integrator proportionally amplifies and integrates the coincidence detector output pulses. A slope polarity switch is coupled to the output of the integrator and to the first bit in the shift register and applies a polarity sign to the integrator output according to the bit value from the register. The output of the switch is integrated to form the reconstructed negative feedback analog signal which is coupled to the comparator for comparison with the input analog signal. The digital output is taken from the shift register first bit.
