    Abstract: A method of manufacturing a stable aldehyde-surfactant complex solution wherein at least one aldehyde is added to a surfactant in a first aliquot of water, at a temperature of between 40° C. to 50° C., the aldehyde is allowed to interact with the surfactant or detergent, in a complexing reaction, for at least 15 minutes whilst maintaining the temperature between 40° C. to 50° C. to produce an aldehyde-surfactant complex solution, and a second aliquot of water is added after at least 15 minutes to cool the aldehyde-surfactant complex solution to below 40° C. to stop the complexing reaction.

    Abstract: An improvement in a bundle breaker having first and second adjacent but longitudinally spaced upper and lower clamping surfaces for breaking progressively a bundle of sheets along a weakened plane from a log. The improvement includes first and second compliance structures positioned between the first and second upper and lower clamping surfaces. The first and second compliance structures include a device for detecting the height of the log and a variation setting device for reducing the distance between the upper and lower clamping surface a selected increment after detecting the height of the log. The compliance structures preferably include fluid pressurized structures which not only detect the height of the highest log when a plurality of logs in side by side relation are broken simultaneously but also apply even pressures to all of the logs and bundles during clamping and breaking even though one or more may have different heights.

    Abstract: A safety lock for locking an upstacker conveyor in an elevated position by means of a safety lock having a retractable member which is inserted between elevating members and the frame of the upstacker. Specifically, the safety lock is inserted between elevating members such as link members which rotate with respect to the frame as the frame is lowered and form an ever decreasing angle with the frame as the frame is lowered. By inserting a retractable member so that the angle between the structural member and frame can no longer decrease, the upstacker is effectively prevented from lowering accidentally.

The curtain type apparatus provides a platform in which the portion of the platform in contact with the carried sheets does not move relative to the sheet while it is extending, during holding, or during retraction of the platform.

    Abstract: Metal jacketed or lead alloy bullets are placed in a tumbler or vibratory device and mixed with a selected quantity of steel shot having either the same size or a plurality of different sizes and tungsten disulfide powder. The mixture is tumbled or vibrated for a selected time until the tungsten disulfide is plated to the outside surface of the bullets by the impact of the steel shot upon the bullets. This plating acts as a heat resisting and friction reducing lubricant which preserves the interior of the rifle barrel, reduces copper fouling, permits shooting at normal barrel pressures and faster bullet velocities and improves the accuracy of the shooting.

    Abstract: A steerable rotatable member such as a pulley, sprocket or timing gear which can be mounted on a shaft so that the plane of the rotatable member may be positioned at selected angles other than a 90.degree. angle to the axis of rotation of the shaft. A torque transmitting member, commonly in the shape of a planar disc, is used to operatively connect the shaft and the rim of the rotatable member. The disc radially elongates and laterally flexes as the rotatable member rotates. A sleeve member may be used to connect the disc to the shaft. When used as a driver, a key may be used to transmit power from the shaft to the sleeve. The use of an elongated groove in the shaft permits the rotatable member to be adjustably moved to different locations along the axial length of the shaft.
