Publication number: 20230364987Abstract: A capless fuel unit having an elongated tubular and cylindrical housing open at each end, the housing defining a first and a second longitudinally spaced fluid ports. A first flapper valve is associated with the first fluid port and a second flapper valve with the second fluid port, the flapper valves being movable between open and closed positions and resiliently urged toward their respective closed positions. A pressure relief valve is at least partially contained within an interior of the flapper valves. An arrangement of elastomeric seals incorporating a Graphene-derivative are positioned within the housing in proximity with the flapper valves for resisting hydrocarbon emission from fuel vapors escaping from the unit to the atmosphere.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 9, 2023Publication date: November 16, 2023Applicant: Martinrea International US Inc.Inventors: Cory Doble, Murali Chandrasekhar, Ryan Majewski, Sorin Stancu

Patent number: 11796090Abstract: An article and method for forming a coated metal pipe for use as an automotive fluid transport tube including a copper plated carbon steel tubing formed into a circular cross sectional profile. At least one intermediate layer including any of a corrosion inhibiting zinc/aluminum alloy, electroplated zinc or hot dip aluminum is applied over said tubing. One or more outer polymer or copolymer layers are applied over the intermediate layer, with the outer layer or multi-layers compounded with a graphene or graphene oxide powder.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2021Date of Patent: October 24, 2023Assignee: Martinrea International US Inc.Inventors: Anindya Banerji, Cory Doble, Ganesh Iyer

Patent number: 11618316Abstract: A lockable assembly for a fuel filler pipe including a cap supported upon a unit mounted to the fuel filler pipe. The clip has at least one locking tab which is actuated by a key insertable portion incorporated into the cap and in order to lock or unlock the cap for removal from the outside part of the unit attached to the filler pipe. The key insertable portion can further include a rotatable component. The at least one locking tab further includes a pair of locking tabs which are radially displaced via the rotatable component so that the tabs displace in opposite directions. Other features include a sliding limiter component associated with each of the oppositely directed locking tabs.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2021Date of Patent: April 4, 2023Assignee: Martinrea International US Inc.Inventor: Sorin Stancu

Patent number: 11052755Abstract: A capless fuel door assembly including a body pivotally supported within a housing of the vehicle between closed and opened positions. The body includes an exterior projection exhibiting an angled slide. A spring is secured to the housing and includes an extended portion supported against an end stop location of the projection defining a first end of said angled slide in order to exert the body in the closed position, with opening of the body about the pivot causing a decrease in the closing force as the spring portion displaces along said angled slide to a second end to achieve the opened position.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2020Date of Patent: July 6, 2021Assignee: Martinrea International US Inc.Inventor: Sorin Stancu

Patent number: 10816121Abstract: A quick connect coupling having a female part with a throughbore for receiving a tube having an annular extending bead. A latch is supported in the female part in communication with the throughbore. A verifier is provided in stacked arrangement with the latch. Insertion of the tube results in extending sides of the latch expanding outwardly and likewise expanding the extending sides of the verifier. Upon passage of the bead past the latch, the latch seating in the engaged position, with the verifier held open by alignment with the annular bead. The verifier subsequently being displaced to a fully engaged position to indicate that the fluid coupling is fluidly and fully connected.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2018Date of Patent: October 27, 2020Assignee: Martinrea International US Inc.Inventor: James J. Kerin, Jr.
