  • Patent number: 9908247
Abstract: A utility knife has a housing, a blade support adapted to carry a blade and shiftable in the housing between a cutting position in which the blade projects from the housing and a safety position in which the blade is retracted into the housing, and a handle pivotal on the housing from a starting position in a first direction into an open position in which the blade in the support can be replaced and from the starting position in a second direction opposite the first direction into an active position operatively engaging the blade support and displacing same into the cutting position. An actuation element is movable on the housing between a first position blocking movement of the handle into the open position and a second position blocking movement of the support into the cutting position.

  • Patent number: 9878456
Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting device comprising a housing (14) and a blade carrier (15) to which a blade (16) is secured. Said blade carrier (15) can be moved by means of a lever element (26) of an actuation device at least between a secure position and a cutting position. In the secure position, said blade (16) is accommodated in the housing (14) so that it is inaccessible to the user and in the cutting position, it protrudes out from the housing (14) through a housing opening (32). The invention is characterized in that an extension (12) is arranged between a first handle (24) and the blade carrier (15).

  • Patent number: 9770833
Abstract: The invention relates to a knife including a housing (11) inside which a blade holder (15) is movably mounted. The blade holder (15) comprises a main part (17) and least one holding part (18) which is movable between a holding position and a in replacement position. In the holding position, a blade (16) can be tightly retained in a replaceable manner in a blade seat between a first holding surface (46) of the main part (17) and a second holding surface (45) of the holding part (18), while in the replacement position, the blade (16) can be removed from the blade seat or a new blade can be mounted in the blade seat. The invention is characterized in that in at least one relative position of the blade holder (15) to the housing (11), the blade holder (15) is biased against a stop (21) by a restoring force, and in that the holding part (18) can be moved into the blade replacement position by having an abutment surface (24) on the stop (21) cooperate with a mating surface (25) on the blade holder (15).

  • Patent number: 9296548
Abstract: A dispenser for utility-knife blades has a longitudinally elongated housing having a longitudinally forwardly open front end and a pair of transversely confronting inner faces each formed with a flat front portion terminating at the open front end and a flat rear portion. Each front portion is offset transversely outward from the respective rear portion and forms therewith a respective longitudinally forwardly directed shoulder. A slide in the housing is formed with a transversely throughgoing compartment adapted to hold a stack of the utility knife blades. The slide is shiftable between a rear position with the stack of blades resting by gravity on the rear portion of whichever inner face is directed upward and a front position with the stack resting on the front portion of the upwardly directed inner face and forward of the shoulder of the upwardly directed inner face. The offset is equal generally to a thickness of a single blade.

  • Patent number: 8732957
Abstract: A knife has a housing, an operating part shiftable on the housing between advanced and retracted positions, and a blade holder connected to the part and carrying a blade. The holder is shiftable on the part between offset first and second cutting positions with the blade projecting from the front end and a safety position with the blade recessed in the housing rearward of the front end. A spring biases the holder into the safety position. A brace element can shift between a position braced between the blade holder and the housing in the first cutting position and a position out of engagement with the blade holder or the housing in the second cutting position. The brace element when engaged holds the blade in the first cutting position but in the second cutting position is disengaged so the spring returns the holder to the safety position.

  • Patent number: 8707566
Abstract: A knife has a blade holder in a housing adapted to hold a blade and shiftable between a first cutting position with the blade projecting a little from the housing and a second position projecting somewhat more from the housing. An actuating element shiftable in the housing between a starting position and an actuating position is effective on a connecting linkage such that in a first orientation force is transmitted to the blade holder to retain the blade holder against moving into its retracted safety position from its first cutting position and in the second orientation the linkage does not prevent the blade holder from moving into its safety position from its second cutting position.

  • Patent number: 8468702
Abstract: A knife has a pair of housing parts relatively shiftable between an open position and a closed position and a base on one of the housing parts forming a blade seat. A holding arm mounted on the base is movable relative thereto between a blade-holding position retaining a blade in the seat and a blade-change position freeing the blade so that in the blade-change position the blade can be switched. Interengaging formations on the other housing part and on the arm shift the holding arm from the blade-holding position into the blade-change position on movement of the housing parts from the closed position into the open position.
