  • Patent number: 6679043
Abstract: A spinning machine includes a plurality of spinning stations or places. Each spinning place includes a yarn formation mechanism that is supplied with staple fiber material in the form of a longitudinal object. Each spinning place includes a refining mechanism by way of which the longitudinal object is refined prior to the fiber material being supplied to a yarn formation mechanism. Each refining mechanism is independently drivable and controllable with respect to the other refining mechanisms. At least one sensor is disposed at each of the spinning places to detect at least one measurable property correlated with fiber mass per unit of length. A controlling monitoring unit is configured to receive and process data measured by the sensor. A control monitoring unit is configured with the refining mechanism at the associated spinning place for control of the refining mechanism as a function of the property detected and measured by the sensor independent of the refining mechanisms at other spinning places.

  • Patent number: 6408221
Abstract: To optimize the cleaning of cotton in a spinning milk, there is entered into a control original data concerning fiber characteristics and proportions of different types of contamination inherent to the origin of fiber cotton bales. Also there is entered into the control a desired degree of cleaning and a throughput quantity of the carded fiber sliver. The control delivers predetermined control signals based upon the entered original data, the throughput quantity of the carded sliver and the desired degree of cleaning. These control signals set adjustable operating members governing the rate of opening of the cotton bales by bale opening machines, the degree of cleaning of the cotton fibers by cleaning machines and the rate of processing of the cotton fibers by at least one carding machine.

  • Patent number: 5377385
Abstract: An autoleveller draw frame achieves changes in the draft by changing the supply speed. The can press nevertheless works evenly. A storage device between the sliver calenders and the can press compensates for changes in the amount of supplied sliver. The storage device can be arranged in such a way that it allows a "flying change of cans." In one aspect, between the sliver calenders and the can press, the sliver forms a hanging loop which varies in depth, depending upon any changes in the supply speed of the sliver, while the can press operates relatively evenly and is not required to be accelerated or braked in response to changes in the supply speed. In another aspect, the storage device includes a conveyor belt arrangement between the supply of the sliver and the can press. Sliver loops are formed on an upper conveyor belt strand, whereafter they are deflected to a lower conveyor belt strand and then fed to the can press.

  • Patent number: 5031280
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for cleaning a carded sliver during a movement of the latter in its longitudinal direction is disclosed. The carded sliver is guided over at least one guide surface having perforations which leads to spreading and loosening of the sliver, and an air flow is generated through the perforated guide surface in order to remove loose contaminations and also dirt and dust particles present in the loosened sliver. The air flow emerging from the carded sliver and carrying dust and dirt particles is preferably drawn off.
