  • Patent number: 5301407
Abstract: A snap ring removal/installation tool for removing crescent shaped split snap ring from a snap ring retaining groove in a shaft. The tool comprises a flat, rigid body having a head at one end with an aperture extending therethrough. The aperture is comprised of a front section and a rear section. The front section is defined by a pair of spaced apart side walls joined by a curved front wall. The rear section is defined by a pair a spaced apart side walls joined by a curved rear wall opposite the curved front wall. The side walls of the rear section are spaced apart a lesser distance than the side walls of the front section, thereby defining laterally extending shoulders or ledges between said side walls of the rear section and the side walls of the front section. These shoulders serve as abutment members which engage the prongs of the snap ring to force the snap ring out of its retaining groove.

  • Patent number: 5032690
Abstract: The present invention discloses a poke-through connector assembly which may be assembled in an aperture within a concrete floor from only one side thereof. The connector includes a molded basket of electrical and thermal insulating material having an upper surface joined to a lower surface by integral columns. A flange extending from the upper surface prevents the connector from passing through the floor aperture, while a spring clip attached to the lower surface of the basket prevents the withdrawal of the connector. An electrical conduit is attached to the lower surface of the basket by the spring clip. Intumescent material placed within the basket expands to fill the aperture within the floor when a fire on the lower surface of the floor heats the connector. The conduction of heat from the fire through the connection is reduced because the insulating basket provides no metal conductive path from the electrical conduit and the spring clip to the upper surface of the basket.

  • Patent number: 4974884
Abstract: A selectively self-locking deadbolt latch for incorporation into doors or the like. The latch can be preliminarily "armed" such that as the door closes the bolt will extend into the opening of the door strike. The latch mechanism includes a cam lever having a shoulder which loads against the bolt extension. A compression spring within the bolt urges the bolt towards the locked position once the cam lever is released from the bolt extension by closing the door. The temporary retraction of the bolt as it engages the door strike releases the bolt and cam lever. A beam spring acting on the cam lever urges the cam lever forward towards the locked position. The bolt is initially armed by turning the inner turn lever slightly or by depressing the end of the bolt which includes chamfered edges to allow the bolt to move past the door strike for release.

  • Patent number: 4966021
Abstract: A reprogrammable lock assembly of the wafer tumbler type which includes a plurality of wafer-type tumblers and cooperating followers mounted in a cylindrical plug and housing. The tumblers are movable radially in the plug to project beyond the plug into restricted pockets in the housing to maintain the lock in a locked position. A driver and adapter disposed in the opposite axial end of the housing from the key hole. The driver and adapter prevent rotation for unlocking unless a key having the proper length is inserted. In addition, the key must have the proper configuration to draw all of the tumblers within the confines of the plug in order to rotate the plug for reprogramming or unlocking of the door. The lock assembly is operated with a reprogramming key and a use key. A reprogramming key is used to rotate the plug to a resetting position which allows the tumblers to separate from the followers.
