Abstract: A protective system includes a garment configured to be worn by a user. The garment includes a padding layer having at least one layer of elastomeric material and at least one layer of high tensile strength fibrous material. The padding layer also includes a plurality of openings formed in a surface thereof. The system may further include one or more load bars. Each of the load bars would extend along the surface of the padding layer between respective ones of the plurality of openings.
Abstract: Joint protectors are disclosed. One such joint protector includes a first pad having a first axis; a second pad having a second axis; a connector coupled to the first and second pads, wherein the connector is configured to attach the first and second pads to a user's limb such that the first pad is positioned on one side of the user's joint and the second pad is positioned on an opposite side of the user's joint. Furthermore, the joint protector is movable to be in a first state, wherein the first axis aligns with the second axis and the end of the first pad aligns with the end of the second pad, and to be in a second state, wherein the first axis is angled relative to the second axis and the end of the first pad is not aligned with the end of the second pad.
Abstract: Helmet padding systems and apparatuses are disclosed. A helmet padding system includes a rigid frame and a spacing pad. The rigid frame is configured to be positioned on the head of a user. The spacing pad includes a layer of elastomeric material. The spacing pad includes a central portion and a plurality of extending portions projecting outward from the central portion. The plurality of extending portions are fixed to the frame.

Abstract: Protective headbands are disclosed. One protective headband has a padding layer that includes a pair of first portions extending in a first direction along a first axis, a second portion extending in the first direction and spaced from the first axis, and a pair of angled portions connecting between the pair of first portions and the second portion. Another protective headband has a padding layer that includes a pair of first arcuate portions, and a second arcuate portion extending between the pair of first arcuate portions, the second arcuate portion curving in a same direction as the pair of first arcuate portions.
Abstract: Helmet padding systems are disclosed. One helmet padding system includes a baseball cap and a spacing pad. The baseball cap has a body portion and a brim portion. The cap includes a pair of side portions extending downward from the cap body below a point at which the brim portion meets the body portion. The spacing pad is positioned within the baseball cap, and includes a layer of elastomeric material.
Abstract: An impact dissipating fabric system includes a first non-woven fabric layer, and a second non-woven fabric layer disposed on one another and coupled together using a lamination film or a resin. In an alternative embodiment, a woven fabric layer may be disposed on either one or both non-woven fabric layers. In yet a further alternative embodiment, and elastomer coating disposed on at least one of the exposed major surfaces of the fabric layer after the fabric layers are coupled to one another.
