    Abstract: A sewing machine adapted to sew an edge of a workpiece such as a floor mat which is mounted on a sewing table includes a sensor means adapted to monitor a contour of the workpiece and transmit monitored information, a feeding means adapted to turn the workpiece in accordance with the contour of the workpiece so as to successively feed the workpiece into a sewing area, and a control mechanism adapted to control the feeding means in accordance with the monitored information transmitted from the sensor means.
