    Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, a tool for measuring the shape of the groove of a thread, the tool measuring the plus or minus radial positions of pairs of points including the pitch diameter point on one flank to the addendum or the dedendum of the other flank. Comparison of these measurements with the pitch diameter as a base line gives a profile of the shapes of the flank.
