Abstract: A method of enhancing distorted signal having a speech and noise component, with a processing device having memory with stored training information T, comprising a step of removing noise in spectrum domain according to a noise and speech model to obtain a clear signal spectrum, wherein the training information T comprises dictionaries of compact spectra prototypes of speech and noise, speech gains and noise gains forming together composite states and it comprises probabilities of state history. Dictionaries of compact spectra prototypes comprise compact spectra prototypes of a first dimension P1 and of a second dimension P2 where second dimension P2 is higher or equal to the first dimension P1.
Abstract: An implantable device is described. An implantable transducer converts between electrical energy and acoustic energy. An implantable electronics module is in communication with the transducer and processes electronic data signals associated with the transducer. A fluid filled catheter has a proximal end coupled to the transducer, and a distal end having a distal opening to cerebrospinal fluid in an implanted patient.
Abstract: A pacemaker system for a human subject having bilateral vocal cord paralysis includes a sensing electrode for detecting inspiratory activity of a vocalizing muscle of the subject and generating a first signal, and a processor for receiving the first signal from the sensing electrode and generating a second signal. The second signal is substantially synchronous with the first signal. A stimulating electrode receives the second signal from the pulse generator and stimulating a vocalizing nerve of the subject.
Abstract: A hearing prosthesis for implantation into a subject's ossified cochlea includes a plurality of electrode carriers associated with a single receiver/stimulator, and a plurality of contact member pairs arranged at a predetermined spacing along a fraction of the length of each electrode carrier. Each contact member pair is superficially placed on the carrier and comprises a first contact member diametrically opposed to a second contact member.
