Abstract: A set of safety retention and recapping devices for intravenous injection ports and hypodermic needles are disclosed. In one such device, a retainer for holding a hypodermic needle and needle cover adjacent an intravenous injection port and associated tubing is provided which lockably receives a needle cover and also lockably receives an intravenous injection port and associated intravenous tubing in convenient adjacency thereto. The safety retention device further includes means for being adjustably located onto a vertical intravenous equipment support pole. A second pocketsized device is disclosed which is readily portable and adapted for single hand use. A third device includes a restraint for attachment to the arm of a patient. A fourth device incorporates a mounting which provides secure bedside attachment and includes a flange that slides under the mattress of a bed, with the device being thus held in a convenient location for use by the weight of the mattress.
Abstract: An endoscopic adapter assembly for coupling a video camera head and an endoscope having a proximal end, the adapter includes an ocular adapter for engaging securely the proximal end of the endoscope. An endoscope-engageable portion engages the coupler adapter and a focusing portion is rotatably secured to the endoscope-engageable portion. A camera-engageable portion is rotatably secured to the focusing portion for connecting it to the camera head. The ocular adapter portion includes a window which is complementarily shaped and designed to face and to be aligned with a window of the ocular adapter for maintaining glass-on-glass contact therewith.
Abstract: An adapter for coupling an endoscope to a camera head. A front window assembly includes a cup-like element for insertion within the chassis of the adapter. A plurality of resistive heating elements is mounted to an annular printed circuit board that is fitted within the cup-like element. The resistive elements are energized by the camera power source to heat the adjacent front window of the adapter. Radial heating of the window raises the moisture-pressure gradient of its surface above that of adjacent metal surfaces, eliminating condensation from the surface of the window.
