Abstract: A gas diffusion electrode for a membrane electrode assembly is provided with expanded metal layers each having a mesh configuration defining a length orientation of the expanded metal layers. The expanded metal layers each have opposed flat sides and are stacked in a layered arrangement such that the flat sides of the expanded metal layers that are neighboring each other in the layered arrangement are facing each other as facing flat sides, respectively. The facing flat sides are connected to each other by pulsed resistance welding at welded contact points. Due to the mesh configuration, the welded contact points are distributed evenly across the entire surface area of the facing flat sides. At least one of the expanded metal layers is oriented with its length orientation so as to be rotated by 90° relative to the length orientation of one of the neighboring expanded metal layers.
Abstract: A woven laminate for sound absorption that includes a first woven layer, a second woven layer, and a third woven layer. The first woven layer has a coarse structure. The second woven layer has a fine structure. The third woven layer has a medium structure. Each of the first, second, and third woven layers are composed of metallic wires that are woven to each other or interlaced as a fleece. At least one of the first, the second, and the third woven layers are superimposed in order to form the woven laminate. The woven layers are placed in the layer order fine-coarse-medium. The woven layers are welded together at least partially.
Abstract: The invention relates to a woven laminate which is used, preferably, as a covering for sound absorption of input and output sound absorbers in an auxiliary gas turbine (APU) of an aircraft, in particular, an aeroplane. Said woven laminate comprises at least three superimposed and at least partially soldered together woven layers. One of said layers comprises a relatively large structure in relation to the others, another layer has a fine structure and the remaining woven layer has a structure which is between the large and the fine structure. Said woven layers comprises metallic wires which are wound together or twisted in a non-woven manner.
