  • Patent number: 6925755
Abstract: An object detection system includes an emitter, a receiver, and a controller adjacent a window assembly which typically includes a moveable glass member and a frame. In operation the emitter transmits the electromagnetic through a defined field adjacent a closure path of a moveable glass member. The controller constructs a map of the signal received by the receiver such that insertion of an object within the defined field produces a variation in the map. The controller halts or reverses the movement of the moveable glass member to prevent trapping the object between the closing moveable glass member and the frame.

  • Patent number: 6530586
Abstract: A suspension system includes a damper assembly to provide an anti-roll capability to a vehicle torsion bar suspension system. The damper assembly is attached to each torsion bar. To selectively couple and decouple the rotational motion of the torsion bars. In one embodiment the damper assembly selectively links rotational motion of the torsion bar anchor arms to transfer an anti-roll force from one suspension link to the opposite suspension link.

  • Patent number: 6305123
Abstract: In a first embodiment, a vehicle window obstruction system incorporates a conductive coating placed on the window. Such coatings are known for use in defrost systems. A voltage source is connected to the conductive coating, such that an electrical charge is placed across the window. Electrical characteristics of the charge are monitored, and compared to expected values. In the event that an obstruction is encountered, the monitored values will differ from expected values, and a control can indicate the presence of an obstruction. Alternatively, the signal could be a high frequency signal such as a sound signal which would be varied when the window contacts a human obstruction.

  • Patent number: 6145918
Abstract: A method and apparatus for preventing the capturing and pinching of a user within the path of a vehicle door includes a sensor for determining the presence of an obstruction when the door is being closed. When an obstruction is detected, a mechanism is actuated which prevents movement of the door to its fully latched position. In this way, any resultant pinching is minimized.

  • Patent number: 6029403
Abstract: A method for mounting a carrier for a window-lifter mechanism in a shell of a vehicle door, the window lifter including at least one rail for guiding the window and the shell having an opening through which the carrier is introduced as well as, at its top, a well for the passage of the window; a) the rail is secured to its carrier with a mutual separation (d1) which is greater than the normal separation in the service position of the window lifter; b) the upper end of the rail is introduced into the shell; c) the upper end of the rail is made to enter the window well by raising the carrier and the window lifter; d) the lower end of the rail is passed over the lower rim of the opening; e) the carrier is pressed against a sealing border around the opening by lowering the assembly back down so that the lower end of the rail positions itself in the shell below the lower rim; f) and the rail is moved from its position of separation (d1) from the carrier into its normal service position (d2) by bringing it closer t

  • Patent number: 5988581
Abstract: A power seat positioning device for automatically adjusting the horizontal fore and aft position of a seat within a vehicle using a single electric motor. A lower track assembly is attached to a vehicle floor and includes a first and second laterally spaced lower track members. An associated upper track assembly attaches to a vehicle seat and includes a first and second upper track member which slide within the first and second lower track members respectively to adjust the for and aft position of the seat within the vehicle. A drive motor and gearbox arrangement is supported on the first upper track to provide the motive force which drives only the first upper track relative to the first lower seat track. A brace member directly connects the first upper track to the second upper track to coordinate the horizontal position of the first upper seat track with the position of the second upper seat track.
