The compounds inhibit three classes of ?-lactamases and synergize the antibacterial effects of ?-lactam antibiotics (e.g., imipenem and ceftazimdime) against those micro-organisms normally resistant to the ?-lactam antibiotics as a result of the presence of the ?-lactamases.
