  • Patent number: 4766709
Abstract: A sturdy and reliable mount for a double-paned glass unit that is readily used with standard glass units and frames, that is easily installed, that eliminates the need for endcaps or exterior stops, and that uses a flexible connector member as part of the mount is disclosed. The application of such a securement as a secondary mount to back-up a primary mount for a double-paned glass unit, such as a structural silicone adherent, is a particularly advantageous use of the invention. An embodiment includes a resilient, or flexible, elastomeric member having a first portion received in a channel formed between the glass plates of a double-paned glass unit and a second portion extending beyond the perimeter of the glass unit. The second portion of the resilient member is fixed to the structure on which the glass unit is to be mounted, such as a building. The invention can also be used with a double-paned glass unit having an inset exterior glass plate.

  • Patent number: 4009298
Abstract: In the coating of glass containers with a plastic film, the curing of the applied plastic film to the container is an extremely important phase of the overall process. Generally, the most economical method of achieving cure is to carry a plurality of the bottles through an oven where the curing operation is accomplished, the bottles being carried on a moving belt. In order to allow such containers to be carried on the moving belt, the base must achieve a partial cure, prior to being placed on the conveying means for passage through the oven. In accordance with the present invention, means and a method are disclosed for providing a sufficient cure of the coated container base to allow for final curing in the oven.

  • Patent number: 3955956
Abstract: A process for producing glass articles, particularly glass containers, comprises heating glass raw materials in a first location until the glass has been refined to approximately 60 to 95% of complete refining, cooling the molten batch and converting the semi-refined glass to a granular state, transporting the glass to a site for completion of refining and transforming of the glass into a finished glass product.

  • Patent number: 3955020
Abstract: A glass container, particularly a bottle, is wrapped in a plastic laminate which is held to the glass by an adhesive. The plastic laminate protects the surface of the bottle from abrasive forces which would diminish the strength of the glass, in combination with the adhesive substantially prevents scattering of the glass, should it be broken, and, because of its structure, provides for application of an attractive graphic design or label which is also protected from abrasion. The plastic laminate includes an inner laminate which is generally opaque, and an outer lamina which is transparent, the label or other graphic design being placed between the lamina.
