Patents Assigned to Mikron S.A.
  • Patent number: 5486151
Abstract: A workpiece is clamped onto a worktable that can travel in at least three directions at right angles to each other relatively to each of several tools. The tools which are inserted each in an individually driven work spindle with only one of the spindles cutting at a time. The spindles are located in a stationary spindle support or in spindle supports permitting linear travel. The workpiece and the tools are brought into contact by numerically controlled movements in the Z-direction, in the X- and Y-directions or in the X- and Z-directions. An automatic tool changing device cooperates with the spindles and with at least one tool magazine. For changing tools, one or one each changer arm or comparable device can work in conjunction with a spindle and with at least one tool magazine.

  • Patent number: 5213559
Abstract: The apparatus is one by which blanks are changed automatically in a hobbing machine of the general type comprising at least one tool head capable of movement along horizontal and vertical axes and consisting essentially in a horizontal spindle and a coaxial outer bearing that can be moved toward and away from one another, between which a tool is supported and set in rotation; in the apparatus disclosed, a vertical post rotatable about its own axis carries a number of peripheral supports that feature two dissimilar structures, the one designed to restrain and/or support a tool and the other a blank, in such a way that the tool currently fitted to the head can be discarded and a replacement tool supplied automatically, utilizing the one type of support, whilst the blanks are changed by the other type.

  • Patent number: 5192172
Abstract: In a hobbing machine of the type with a pair of coaxial heads driving a hob supported between them, one of which capable of movement toward and away from the other and one affording a key positioned to engage a slot associated with the hob, the slot is incorporated directly into the hob, and each head carries an axially hollow alignment spigot with a stop collar, matched to and insertable in the axial bore of the hob to a depth determined by interaction of the relative collar with the end of the hob; equipping one of the heads with a coaxial tension rod insertable through the bore of the hob, and the other head with a clamping mechanism capable of gripping and tensioning the rod, the necessary rigidity is obtained without the use of an arbor.

  • Patent number: 5097577
Abstract: An intermittently rotary workpiece-holding table has operating units that move vertically relative to the table. The operating units are controlled by vertically swinging levers that are driven vertically at one end and at their other ends control the operating units. The levers pivot about fulcrums, each lever having two fulcrums spaced apart along its length. During a first portion of movement of the lever, that fulcrum is operative which gives the most rapid vertical movement to the operating unit. Then the first fulcrum becomes inoperative and the second fulcrum becomes operative, whereupon the speed of vertical movement of the operating unit slows, as for example for the performance of a work operation.

  • Patent number: 5092021
Abstract: Machine with intermittently rotary workpiece-holding table makes it possible to perform with great rapidity the working and assembly of pieces requiring great precision. It comprises work units placed above (8), below (8') and laterally (8") to rotary table (14) and respective control elements (7a, 15, 7b, FIGS. 1a and 1b) to determine the advance and return movements of the work units. The control units comprise, for each of the work units placed above (8, FIG. 1), a linear cam (7a) and a reversed linear cam (7b), angularly out of phase, controlling a lever system (15) carrying the corresponding tappet. The cams are placed in the axial direction on a rotating body (6). With respect to known machines that exhibit an active travel and an empty return travel, the hourly production theoretically is doubled.
