  • Patent number: 5993953
Abstract: A laminated paper, including a water soluble polyvinyl alcohol layer of 15-40 .mu.m thickness having an air permeability of 800,000 seconds/100 ml or higher, a total thickness of 40-100 .mu.m and a lengthwise softness of 50 g or less. The laminated paper has high air permeability, extremely superior in air tightness, water soluble, and easy to dispose and recycle. Furthermore, there is no static electricity generated, it is strong in heat sealing, and it has conversion performance. Plus, in the safety aspect, it is non-toxic, waste is safe, and when cushioning material 10 is formed, disposal process is easy as the water soluble PVA film and the paper base are both biodegradable. This laminated paper is an environment friendly industrial material.

  • Patent number: 5849153
Abstract: A water-dispersible sheet and a cigarette using the sheet are disclosed. The sheet comprises a water-resolvable base paper made from fibrous raw materials and a water-dispersible coating layer containing water-soluble polymer and an alkaline compound. The sheet is also produced through an impregnation treatment for a water-resolvable base paper with a coating mixture containing water-soluble polymer and an alkaline compound, wherein said water-resolvable base paper is made from a mixture of water-dispersible fibers and fibrous carboxymethyl cellulose acid or fibrous carboxyethyl cellulose acid. The gas-permeability of the water-dispersible sheet is controlled by the water-dispersible coating layer or the impregnation treatment.

  • Patent number: 5722433
Abstract: A water-dispersible sheet for cigarettes and a cigarette using the sheet are described. The sheet comprises a water-resolvable base paper and a water-dispersible coating layer containing water-soluble polymer formed on the surface of the base paper, whereby the sheet is adjusted to have an air-permeability of not more than 200 coresta measured with a paper permeability meter, or to have an air-resistance within the range of 0 to 50000 second/100 ml measured with an Oken type air-resistance tester. The water-resolvable base paper is made from fibrous raw materials containing not less than 20% by weight of water-dispersible fibers having fiber dimensions of a l/D value of 0.45 or lower and a L/D value of 60 or lower and a water-retention value of 95% or lower. The sheet is suitable for use as filter joining paper or filter plug wrap for cigarettes.

  • Patent number: 5173521
Abstract: An absorbent fibrous structure comprising salts of fibrous carboxymethyl cellulose. In this structure, polyelectrolyte complexes are formed in at least a part of the salts of fibrous carboxymethyl cellulose by cationic water-soluble polymers. Each cationic water-soluble polymer comprises repeating units having at least one of primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary nitrogen atoms and does not substantially have functional groups for forming cross-linking other than the nitrogen atoms. According to a preferred embodiment, polyamine resin was added to a suspension of Na-salts of fibrous CMC to prepare a stock, and from this stock, an absorbent fibrous sheet is produced by a paper-making method. Then, this sheet had a high water absorbency and had high wet tensile strength even after absorbing water. Further, slime was not generated at all and the sheet-surface was neutral.

  • Patent number: 4339143
Abstract: This invention provides a pressure-sensitive recording material in which two color-forming components capable of forming a colored substance upon reaction with each other are formed on the surfaces of separate supports, for example paper sheets, as a transferable coated layer and a receptive coated layer respectively, said transferable coated layer being a layer of a hot-melt type coating containing one color-forming component, and said receptive coated layer being a layer having absorbent micropores and composed of microcapsules containing the other color-forming component, a fine powder and a binder. By stacking a plurality of such pressure-sensitive recording materials, they can be used as a pressure-sensitive recording business form.
