  • Patent number: 6322710
Abstract: A managing system for managing slurry, which is used to machine workpieces. The slurry contains dispersion liquid and abrasive grains. Slurry that has been used in machining further includes impurities that are smaller than the abrasive grains. A first decanter centrifugally separates a mixture of impurities and dispersion liquid from the used slurry to recover recyclable abrasive grains from the slurry. A second decanter centrifugally separates impurities from the mixture to recover recyclable dispersion liquid from the slurry. A specific gravity gage and a viscosity gage detect properties of the used slurry. The rotating speeds of the first and second decanters are controlled in accordance with the detected properties of the slurry. This always maintains the separating efficiency of both decanters at an optimal value thus effectively recovering and recycling the abrasive grains and dispersion liquid.

  • Patent number: 4267155
Abstract: A flue gas containing SO.sub.x, NO.sub.x and O.sub.2 is washed with an alkaline aqueous solution containing a NO.sub.x removal catalyst to form the salts of a dithionate, a sulfate and an imidobissulfate. The salts are crystallized, separated and heated for pyrolysis by a pneumatic conveying pyrolysis unit whereby a gas containing higher concentration of SO.sub.2 is obtained. The gas is fed into the alkaline aqueous solution together with the flue gas so as to improve the efficiency.

  • Patent number: 4069969
Abstract: A centrifugal separator for fuel oil contaminated by water and sludge particles includes an inlet 41, nested separator plates 15, a clean oil outlet 1, a separated water outlet 2, and sludge outlets 48 controlled by a valve cylinder 50 closed by a water pressure chamber 32 and opened by a water pressure chamber 31. When the sludge layer 28 builds up and closes off the water discharge passage 27, the trapped water similarly builds up and overflows into chamber 33 to force piston 36 downwardly. This opens a valve 38, 39 to allow water from chamber 24 to enter chamber 31 and force the cylinder 50 downwardly to open the sludge outlets. The water in chambers 31 and 33 is slowly bled off through vent nozzles, whereby water in chamber 23 enters chamber 32 to raise the cylinder 50 and close the sludge outlets, and enters chamber 34 to raise the piston 36 and close the valve 38, 39.

  • Patent number: 3944650
Abstract: A process is described for the removal of oxides of sulfur, dust and mist from a combustion waste gas such as the waste gas evolved from a glass melting furnace in which the waste gas is contacted with an absorbing solution containing an alkaline absorbent such as NaOH, Na.sub.2 CO.sub.3 or Na.sub.2 SO.sub.3, whereby the oxides of sulfur are absorbed and the temperature of the waste gas is decreased and the humidity of the waste gas in increased. The treated waste gas is then passed through a glass fiber filter which is maintained under moist conditions in order to efficiently remove dust and mist particles from the waste gas. Crystalline sodium sulfate hydrate is recovered from the absorbing solution contacted with the waste gas.
