  • Publication number: 20230394660
Abstract: Given a specific imaging device and systems further described herein, wound characteristics of a wound fluoresce with a unique spectral signature when subjected to excitation light with a known wavelength or range of wavelengths. Images captured therefrom are subject to analyses by one or more analysis modules trained using one or more of reflectance images and/or data, fluorescence images and/or data, RGB image data, RGB color data, and wound characteristics data. Wound sizes, boundaries, bacterial presence, and other characteristics may be quantified and graphically represented as an overlay on the original wound image along with documentation related to the wound. Reflectance, fluorescent, and thermal images of the wound may be acquired, subject to analyses with the trained analysis modules, and two or more of the analyzed images may be overlaid to form a composite image upon which areas of interest from each image is highlighted or otherwise indicated.

  • Patent number: 11758263
Abstract: A portable, handheld system for target measurement is provided. The system comprises an imaging assembly comprising first and second camera sensors, separated from one another by a fixed separation distance; and a processor operably coupled to the imaging assembly, the processor being configured to: activate the imaging assembly to capture a primary image of the target with the first camera sensor and to capture a secondary image of the target with the second camera sensor, wherein the target is in a field of view of each of the first and second camera sensors; analyze the captured primary and secondary images to determine a pixel shift value for the target; calculate a parallax value between the primary and secondary images using the determined pixel shift value; compute measurement data related to the target based on the calculated parallax value; and output the measurement data to a display of the imaging system.

  • Publication number: 20230165469
Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods operate on a fluorescence image to ensure a white balance correctness of the fluorescence image; perform a color analysis of the fluorescence image, including: converting the fluorescence image to an HSV color space, comparing a saturation parameter of the first converted image to a first saturation threshold condition and comparing a value parameter of the first converted image to a first value threshold condition, wherein the first value and saturation threshold conditions are based on a correlation between a first color and the first bacterial fluorescence signature, and identifying areas of the fluorescence image where the saturation parameter satisfies the first saturation threshold condition and the first value parameter satisfies the value threshold condition, discard the identified areas which are smaller than a size threshold, and outline the remaining identified areas on the fluorescence image, thereby to generate an overlay image.

  • Publication number: 20220061671
Abstract: A portable, modular handheld imaging system is disclosed. The modular system comprises a first housing portion and a second housing portion. The first housing portion includes at least one excitation light source. A first filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination with the excitation light to a first image sensor. A second filter is configured to detect and permit passage of selected optical signals responsive to illumination of the target surface with white light to a second image sensor. The second housing portion is configured to releasably receive the first housing portion. The second housing portion includes a display and a processor configured to receive the detected fluorescent and white light optical signals and to output a representation of the target surface to the display based on the detected optical signals.

  • Publication number: 20210228300
Abstract: A drape for use with fluorescence-based imaging and white-light imaging includes a drape body. The drape body is configured to limit passage of electromagnetic radiation including light through the drape body to an interior imaging environment defined by the drape body such that electromagnetic radiation including ambient light within the interior imaging environment does not exceed a predetermined threshold. The drape also includes a connecting element permanently coupled to the drape body. The connecting element defines a hole in the drape body. The connecting element is configured to attach the drape to a portable, handheld imaging device.

Abstract: Given a specific imaging device and systems further described herein, wound characteristics of a wound fluoresce with a unique spectral signature when subjected to excitation light with a known wavelength or range of wavelengths. Images captured therefrom are subject to analyses of pixels thereof, with a plurality of training images having known wound sizes and characteristics marked-up thereon being used to generate training data, which is subsequently used to identify wound characteristics from test images in real time. Wound sizes, boundaries, bacterial presence, and other characteristics may be quantified and graphically represented as an overlay on the original wound image along with documentation related to the wound.
